I never bothered with The Knot…too…I dunno…I never liked the e-mails about needing to have frivolous things.

I always felt that this was a site dedicated more to the acceptance of all types of weddings versus pushing higher-end extravagant galas…I dunno, just my opinion.

I’ve heard other people say the same. I’m not sure that I really saw it, but I didn’t find the topics as relevant or interesting as the ones here… so…. I guess that’s why I started coming here more.

the Knot is pretty bad. there was a HUGE scandal last year (I mean, huge for weddingbee) where a group of girls started a secret snark board just so they could make fun of certain bees. nobody ever came out and said it, but I feel pretty sure it was on the Knot. you had to be invited into the snark board to participate.

seriously, people don’t have better things to do with their time?

fortunately, Mr. Bee and his cohorts managed to figure out which bees were doing this and booted them.  they even figured out a way to use their IP addresses so they could never sign up for new accounts! yay Mr. Bee!

I actually like the Knot for the local resources threads. It’s a great place to start researching local vendors and their reviews.

I too have never signed up there, so I don’t have personal experience. But the things I’ve heard are awful! They sound really mean over there- I choose the bee anyday. People are so nice here (for the internet anyway).

I’ve only ever used it for inspiration pics, which I found quite useful.

From what I have seen, The Knot will tell brides straight up the proper answer to their question.  A little snark comes out sometimes, but usually that happens if the OP tries to argue why their case is special (when it is not) or insults Knot regulars.  It also comes out if the question has been asked many times that day.  Had the poster read other threads on the board, usually they would have found it and not re-hashed a topic again and again.

Sorry guys, gotta shut this down. From the TOS:

xii.      Please do not link to or reference other discussion boards with the intent to disparage their members, content, or staff.

When I was first engaged, I was so excited to participate in wedding boards on various sites. I signed up for the Knot. But after reading how horrible some of the responses to original posters were, I decided I did not want to be upset by someone’s childish or trolllike responses. I am SOOO glad I found the bee. I’ve been married for a few months, but visiting here is like chicken soup for the soul. There are so many positive bees and great advice about so many topics. Yay for the bee.
