I think it depends mainly where you live.

My wedding dress was $1700 after alterations and my catering was 15k.

Before planning my wedding I thought 15k would be an okay price for a wedding and I was WRONG lol. But I live in a pricey area and couldn’t get food under $125 a plate.

Our venue was over $21k – it was almost $150 a head, for 150 people.

    My dress was $5k.

We spent almost $60k when it was all said and done.  Our original budget was $35k. Undecided

Our wedding budget is $70,000 not including our honeymoon.

    The venue/catering is $185 pp for 185 people = $34,225 (including tax and tip). My dress + veil + alerations = $6,545

I started off thinking we’d spend about $8,000 – we’re planning a fairly casual affair.  But with about 150 guests, our budget is at about $13,000 now.

My dress is either going to be a $100 lace sheath from Macy’s or a $225 Sue Wong gown on sale.  I want something beautiful but NOT a big frilly wedding costume, so I’m totally happy to just spend a couple hundred dollars on a dress.

Our catering is going to cost about $6000, including food and desserts ($22/pp for buffet) and drinks (we’re supplying our own).  This also includes a rehearsal dinner BBQ to which we’re inviting all our guests.  Our venue is a couple thousand dollars on top of that, including a number of cabins where family can stay.

    It sure adds up!  :/

Not including honeymoon, I think our budget was around $15,000. Once we got closer to the actual day, it got harder to keep track of expenditures as we were racing around to get some of the small, last minute stuff, but I think we stayed close to that amount.

I bought my dress at the same time as my sash and veil, and with taxes, custom fees, and shipping from the shop to me, that whole bundle came to about $2100. I think the dress alone was around $1200, so adding the extra stuff really tacked onto the price.

My catering was $85/person, and it was the cheapest package my venue had. That included four entree choices, several hot and cold appetizers, full bar, room rental, service charge, champagne toast, gratuities, tax, etc. Our minimum was $8000, and we ended up adding uplights (which were around $300) to meet that minimum.

My mom is paying but she is going to spend about $45K once all is said and done. Renting venue for ceremony and reception was $6750. Food minimum is $12,000. My dress was $4500. Everytime I see how much she is spending, I just think, why didn’t I take this money for a house?!?

We spent about $13k. That includes $2k for the photographer, $3k for the reception and $6k for the honeymoon. The rest was attire, decor, and travel expenses since it was a destination wedding.

    Wedding in Hawaii — 12000.00 venue/food/alcohol 1200.00 dress

Total…Honestly I’m not exactly sure, I think around 18,000.00 (mostly just doing a “dinner party” atmosphere)

Budget, which wasn’t really a budget but an idea because frankly we had no idea how much weddings cost….$25K.

Final bill after everything was said and done $75K.

@Pinkmoon:  Same exact figures here!! We are at 30k, but that’s just our projected budget right now and I’m afraid it’ll be over that when it’s all said and done. I don’t know what I was thinking when I thought we could do a wedding for 10k. Pfft!

This is what we’ve spent so far:

$7600 huge private home rental for 4 days for the ceremony/reception

    $4900 photographer

    $5000 coordinator

Originally I was thinking of a budget around $20,000 but our reception venue alone is going to be about $21,000 (for 140 people, includes dinner, wedding cake, centerpieces, limo plus overnight rooms for us and our parents). My dress, including alterations, is $2100. I’m thinking total is going to come out to about $30,000, not including honeymoon because we probably aren’t going to go on one right away.

I expected to spend around $8-10K, and we are probably going to be right within that rangeSmile.
