we haven’t planned one yet, as we’ll have not much $$ left! (other than small amount of savings we want to keep!)

but we’re going away to a cousins 21st birthday so might stretch that out a bit so it can be a mini moon

    Isn’t in the budget though!

yes and no.  originally we set a 10K budget based on what our parents were pitching in and what we could save by the wedding.  2k of that was for the honeymoon, but 10k just seemed like so much $ to spend on one day; we have so many other savings goals.  thinking of it as 8k for the wedding made us feel better, haha!

We are having a delayed honeymoon (a cruise in May). Since it is nearly seven months after the wedding, we are budgeting for it separately.

ours is. it was just easier–our wedding is fairly expensive, and so is our honeymoon..we created a budget for the overall “wedding experience” and that included the honeymoon. it was the easiest way to see what we could afford.

We saved and budgeted for our honeymoon separately. We did the same with rings. Our parents helped us with the wedding, so it made sense for us to keep that its own thing.

Without knowing exactly what you want to do and where you want to go on your honeymoon I think its hard to budget for at the start of wedding planning.

We know that we want to go to Europe but the number of days and cities will be dependent on what we can save beyond our wedding budget.

We did decide though to do a honeymoon registry like the honeyfund so that people can contribute to our honeymoon in lieu of a wedding or shower gift. We have a lot of things between the two of us so we don’t really need more stuff….but money for the honeymoon would be nice!

No, not technically. His parents are giving us a set $3k, just for the honeymoon (and we’re NOT allowed to spend it on other things – they’ve made this very clear). We’re also not taking it for about 8 months, so we’ll have time to save up as well. The reason we’re not allowed to spend it for the wedding is because they know we’ll put it towards bills, and they want us to be able to have a honeymoon and relax. His mom basically said “we’re not paying for your apartment and cell phone – we’re paying for you to have a vacation and enjoy yourselves!”

Yikes. Our honeymoon fund is totally separate. And a totally separate pain at that.

Our honeymoon budget was completely separate from the wedding budget because at the end of the wedding, we did not have the time or the money to go on a honeymoon.  We’ve basically been saving like crazy since the wedding (Dec) and are HOPEFULLY (pray pray pray that the Army works with me on this one) going on our honeymoon Nov. 6th!!!!

Nope, because my Fiance and I are paying for the honeymoon ourselves, whereas our parents are all contributing for the wedding. Our honeymoon is insanely expensive though…waay more than I anticipated spending!

Ours are together because one way or another… it needs to get paid for right?

We didn’t include it in the budget. The budget was for things that our parents were paying for (even though we are chipping in on things within the budget), the honeymoon, rings, and limo were things we were paying for.

Like corgitales, I believe it has to get paid for and we wouldn’t necessarily be going unless we were having the wedding, so it’s included in our budget. My fiance and I are the only ones paying for it, so it has to be.
