I wouldn’t do this, unless you plan on making the slices half as wide as usual so that everyone has a chance to have some. Dessert bars tend to not be any cheaper than cake so I would just prepare to feed everyone cake.

Why don’t you just get a one tier cake and get additional sheet cakes for your guest. You should get the amount of cake to feed your guest. I would be pretty upset if I didn’t get a piece of cake at your wedding. Have your dj announce the cake cutting so guest should be sitted and not miss out on getting a sllice of cake.

wedding cake is my favorite part of a wedding. I’ve been to weddings with smores bars and it kind of breaks the party up because you have to go outside to make the smores. With cake, you can go back to your table, eat it quick and then get back up and dance.

Regardless, I don’t think its right that you will have people potentially wanting cake, but not getting any. If you really want the smores bar, I would just do a small cutting cake and have the smores be your dessert.

You seem to have your heart set on doing it half and half so I’m wondering how open to our advice you are. I personally would never choose smores over cake at a wedding. Among other things, they’re messy. But if you really want smores I would do all smores rather than half cake, half smores. I don’t even like cake that much but I’d be pretty annoyed if I received the word that cake was being served and hustled over to my table only to find out that cake is all out but I could make myself a smore.

I like wedding cake so much that even if I were full from dinner and busy dancing, I would want to take my slice home.

Since when did trends change to the point that other desserts substitute for THE cake? Or wedding cake now comes in flavors not everyone likes such as red velvet with that awful cream cheese frosting.

If I were in your shoes and wanted to make the most guests happy,  I would feel free to have any creative or different foods at my reception…I would feel free to have wizard world comic con figurines on top of my cake lol but I would choose to have enough of a special attractive cake with a buttercream frosting!
