I’d order a new cake for your anniversary. I make cakes for friends and family, and have made several wedding cakes. Cake can/does freeze well, but it won’t taste great after a year.

You can buy and sometimes rent cupcake stands that have a space on top for a small cake that you guys will cut at the wedding.

If you want to make a sign, make a sign. You could print little signs with different colors on them to distinguish flavors, or have your baker decorate them differently, then indicate that on your sign. I think 2-3 flavors would be plenty. I think it would be fine to have some on the stand and some on the table, but you can buy stands that hold up to 300 cupcakes. Just google. : )

No you are not crazy. My fiance and I love cupcakes so it is only right we have them for our wedding. Here is a picture that may help you.

I forgot to add. If you want you can save the top “cake” portion for your 1 year anniversary. Maybe you can have each tier be a different flavor with some sort of map ( like they have for boxed chocolates)

We’re doing cupcakes, but not doing a top layer at all. The thought of eating year-old frozen cake really freaks me out. Fiance isn’t a huge fan of cake anyway. I’m going to put them on one big stand and make a sign for the flavors, since we’ll have one kind with fruit filling, which I hate. I’d be really pissed if I grabbed a nasty cupcake (sorry Fiance lol). 🙁
