I honestly can’t remember from previous weddings, Ive been to, but is there usually a wedding cake and dessert table? Is it typically one or the other, and if you have a cake, the cake is served as dessert? Or can bride and groom cut a smaller cake, and then have a dessert table with mini cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, etc for guests to help themselves to?

I’ve only ever seen the cake on a separate table on it’s stand.
Our friends had a dessert table and the cake was taken away after they cut it (and almost dropped it on the floor!) and cut up into portions to be served by the dessert table staff.

I’ve usually seen the cake on a separate table, but there are lovely ways to have both desserts and cake on the same table:

I kind of want to have just a small 2-tiered cake for us to cut, and then a dessert table with mini cup cakes in a variety of flavors, as well as cake pops and cookies, considering not everyone likes cake… Is this a dumb idea? Lol. Be honest!
