Our will also be buttercream. I wanted whipped cream but the baker said it wouldn’t last. ๐

All these cakes look so beautiful and yummy! Here’s pics of our fondant free, all buttercream frosted wedding cake.
@bunnyharriet: Our bakery was an hour away from our venue, so we decided that separate layers was the *safest* way to go if we wanted our cake to look like anything ๐
@StuporDuck: That’s similar to the inspiration pic for our cake!
Ours is going to be carrot cake with cream cheese frosting inside anddd outside! YUM! We are also going for the taste > aesthetic approach.
Well our cake was fondant (won’t post photos since it doesn’t apply) however we don’t care for the taste of fondant either. I have to disagree with @AmeliaBedelia that you have to choose taste or appearance because we had both.
We requested a thick layer of buttercream under the frosting (most bakers put some buttercream under the fondant anyway…it isn’t either/or) so that the guests could easily peel away the homemade fondant leaving a sufficient amount of buttercream. We tried it out and it was delicious and on the big day there were those eating the fondant and those that weren’t.
Just something to think about if you do like the look of fondant but not the taste.
We both hate fondant equally (less cake!) and were looking for buttercream options so thank you so much for this thread!
These are all SO lovely. Are any of you from Orlando or have recommendations for an Florida/Orlando?
My aunt made our cake & it had a buttercream frosting. I love the way it turned out & it was delicious too!
I wish I had a better close-up pic, but no fondant on our cake, all buttercream.
I loved our cake. It was delicious and pretty and I’ve posted it here a million times, so what’s one more?
We went with simple white buttercream. Not a huge fan of fondant either! ๐
