Hi all! I just have a question for all of you lovely ladies.. I’m getting married in 2013 and I’m not sure what the proper protocol is when it comes to gift tables and/or card boxes. I LOVE the idea of a vintage birdcage for cards, but are card holders really necessary? Are cards commonly given for weddings? Should I have a gift table too?
I know I sound clueless but I’ve only ever been to one wedding and thats when I was like.. ten.. Hah. So I don’t really remember much about it. If cards really are that common then I’d love to go with the birdcage idea. I just don’t want it sitting there and have no one know what its there for.. Hah.
Any help you guys could give me would be wonderful! Thanks so much!

Yes, do both. Lots of people bring cards, but some will bring gifts. A gift table with a card box is pretty standard for weddings.

Do both. Most people give cash or check (in a card) and the rest tend to mail gifts directly from the store you registered at, so you won’t need much space for the gifts.

We had a gift table (and definitely needed it). Every wedding I have been to has had one and it was filled. We didn’t have a separte card box though. We got maybe a dozen cards that weren’t attached to a gift so they just got stacked on the table.
ETA: We had 135 people at our wedding (just for a perspective).
