Does anyone have any recommendations on a venue near Pittsburgh, PA or Morgantown, WV? We will probably have 100-150 people. I would like to get married in 2016 so I know we will probably have to go with a Friday or Sunday due to timing even though I would rather have a Saturday.
I’m looking for something laid-back so a barn or outdoors is fine. I have contacted Succop outside of PA, Lakeview near Morgantown, and the WVU Alumni Center and am looking into those. I’m not from Pittsburgh but have lived here for around 5 years and I really love it here and would like to get married somewhere near Pittsburgh.
I know that budget is a big issue so I’m saying I would like to keep the ceremony and reception costs to around $10,000 for rental, food, drinks (so that doesn’t include my dress, flowers, decorations, his suit, DJ or band).
I’m new here and have looked through some older posts but was looking for some more recent advice and pricing…THANKS IN ADVANCE!

It’s been almost 20 years since I left Morgantown, and I don’t have any real advice other than to ask if you’ve look near Cheat Lake. But reading you post made me smile. I love Morgantown. And Pittsburgh too. Just not Pitt. 🙂

I’ve seen several weddings at Coopers Rock, about 20 mins away from Morgantown. Very beautiful location.
You could also try Heston Farm in Fairmont.
Forks of Cheat Winery in Morgantown
Dorsey’s Knob (highest point in Morgantown)
Sorry I don’t know of any wedding venues in Pittsburgh.
There’s many wineries/farms, golf courses & country clubs to search from in Morgantown and surrounding parts of PA.. and I’ve heard of people getting married in museums and botanical gardens, which you would find more of in Pitt

engagedinpitt: If you had 150 people Succop might be tough in that budget. There are a lot of costs that are not included with their base price. The number they give you only includes the dinner (no appetizers or alcohol), setup an a few other things it would come out to 10K just for the venue and dinner on a Friday or Sunday. It is very nice though!
I would give a look at the Atrium in Butler. Also, Betsy’s barn or Hartwood Acres. I also know someone who got married at the Erickson arena in Morgantown and it looked like they had a great time- I think they both went to WVU and wanted to get married there.

Coopers Rock would be awesome, and I have fond memories of parties held in pavillions there, but as a state park they don’t allow alcholhol (or at least they didn’t 20 years ago).
What about the Arboretum?
