I am sure there are a good many people who would find that rude, but also a good many people who would not find it rude.

I personally think it’s rude, because I think the ceremony, where you commit to love each other for the rest of your lives, is something that you should do in front of your “community,” those who will support you as you try and live out those vows. (A rhetorical question- Why would you invite someone to the celebration but not the event itself?)

Practically speaking, I understand that there are practical reasons that some people find this necessary, but I think that if there is any way, that it is important to invite everyone to the ceremony. Most brides focus so much on the “party” afterwards, that we forget that the vows–the marriage itself!–should actually be more important!
