The title might seem confusing, but basically, we had originally planned on having a biggish wedding, but since Fiance is deployed and we cant set a date or make any plans, I have basically decided that when he gets home I just want to go to city hall and do it. Of course with our families and any friends who can make it, but now I dont feel like my wedding dress would work.
This is the dress that I have hanging in my closet. I have had it for over a year now, and I feel like it was perfect for the wedding we started trying to plan over a year ago, but now that all that has not worked out and we are doing something completely different, I dont feel like this is the perfect dress anymore.
Fiance will be wearing his dress blues, and since we are going to be doing a ceremony at the courthouse, or possibly something quick and thrown together at my church, it wont be formal, or extravagant, and I think I am starting to think that something more along the lines of this dress would be what I want:
Help me! I hate feeling like I am regretting buying my dress, but when I bought it I had this idea in my head of what the wedding would look like, and now it is COMPLETELY different! What do you ladies think?

No, honey – keep the dress you already got! It will make beautiful city hall pictures! Especially with your honey’s dress blues.

@ChellFish22: They are both beautiful dresses, just different.
Wear the dress you love. I think the first dress would be just as appropriate in a Court house, I am sure there will be other brides there who have chosen to wear a long dress.
Just wear what makes you feel 100% happy and beautiful, this is your big day.

@ChellFish22: I like your current dress better! don’t see anything wrong with wearing it at the city hall, it will look great 🙂

But agree with Aussiemom, wear whatever YOU love. Nothing wrong with wearing either of the two to the city hall.

@ChellFish22: Keep the dress! It’s absolutely beautiful and you shouldn’t have to give it up just because you’re having a courthouse wedding.
If you really want a shorter dress, maybe you can chop yours short and add some crinoline underneath.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with your original dress! It’s fairly simple, so it won’t be out of place!

You have made me feel a little better about it. I guess when I bought the dress I was trying to decide between a fancyish church ceremony, or a beach ceremony, and though, oh this will be prefect for either. Now that it has turned into more of a ‘were going to wake up one day and go get married’ sort of thing I wasnt sure if the dress still fit the ‘theme’.
@somethingaquamarine: I am a little scared to do that! haha. But if I decided I did want something short I would lover to keep my original dress and just make it knee length, I guess I will have to think about it.
