Hey Bees!!
First let me say, THANK GOD for this site…. I think I’m driving my friends up the wall with my constant stressing and obsessing. Basically, they feel like I’m trying to figure everything out too soon, and I’ve got plenty of time.. but I feel like there’s never enough time! I think I’m missing the bride gene a little.. and the whole thing is just stressing me out! I’m so glad I can jump on here and post, or find some other ladies with wedding woe’s!
Anyhow, to the point. I’m having a fall-themed wedding, I love fall, and think the colors outside are GORGEOUS but i’m having a serious color dilemma. I’d really like purple dresses *dark purple*, but the chairs in the venue (which I’m not covering) are burgundy.. which I’m worried will clash with black tuxes.. etc. Basically, I just need some help! I’m not set on any specific colors yet, as long as they’re fall-y.. and I’m not doing burgundy bridesmaids dresses.. So if anyone has any pictures, suggestions… any help to offer me at all.. please don’t hesitate. I’d like to save my nervous breakdown for something more important, like the shoes (:

Hm. What about: Dark Purple, Red/Burgundy? That will tie in the chair color, the red will liven up the colors, and you still get your purple. How DARK are the burgundy chairs? That color can be so all-over-the-place.

@darlingggnikkie: Well, burgandy is a dark fall color. My suggestion is to put an orange sash with the chair, or brown so that it could ‘tie it in’ a little more. I think it would look awesome! It won’t class at all. My colors will be fall colors too^^
If you are worried about it, then go to the venue with some color/fabric swatches and play a lil. 🙂

@AmeliaBedelia: I totally agree! I love purple and red together. There’s something about it that’s unexpected, but so elegant looking.

More purple & red – my favorite color combo!

Or you could throw in some deep orange – this board has an exotic/Indian feel, but that color combo can also be very fall looking…

WOW i love all your suggestions!!! I really appreciate the help. The only problem with the purple/burgundy is it just doesn’t feel fall enough to me, which generally I would be okay with, but the Fiance really has his heart set on it feeling like a fall wedding, IE leaves/orange/brown blahblah.. the burgundy chairs are fairly dark.. I think doing a bordeaux dress and fall colored flowers will be good (lots of red and dark purple), but then what color runners and napkins on the tables? I just don’t want it to be over the top, or clashing. I would be willing to do brown dresses as well to try and neutralize everything a bit.

What about gold/ivory? Gold feels very fall to me. I think Orange can work with the Purple/Red combo, but you’d have to be more careful with it. Brown can always just sort of be thrown in there, not necessarily as a full-on color. I like the gold/ivory idea. It will also tone it down enough.

I LOVE dark purple and red/burgundy. I almost did those colors but went with different shades of purple and black and silver (it is in a theater in august after all…)

@creativeplannertobee: that’s a really pretty color, almost a burgundy/purple mix

What about a burnt orange instead of burgundy? I know the chairs are burgundy but it’s such a close color, it will blend nicely. Here are some ideas to keep the fall feeling for your Fiance and the purple for you!

@SandAndSea: that “rainbow” of fall colors is perfect.. it really encompasses everything i wanted.. and it includes the burgundy, and we’ll keep that just in the chair colors and sort of on the back burner.. so my only predicament then would be what color would the napkins/runners be.. hmmm! lol

@darlingggnikkie: I think it would be great if you could fint a print with a few of the colors in them. Of course that’s a DIY project. Figure out which colors you want to stand out most and use one of those. If you want it to feel like fall, I would use a fall color with accents of your purple everywhere. what about the orange or brown?
