Hello! Im getting married this summer and am planning a church ceremony followed by an outdoor cocktail and formal reception. My fiance and I LOVE new england and we have selected a dream spot that includes rolling hills, a barn, etc. We want to pick colors that will both blend with the day and make it our own (green? blue? an assortment of colors?) I just dont know where to begin. How do people “pick” their colors?!
Any ideas would be welcome!
oh – the anxiety about all of this is that I have to pick out bridesmaid dresses and my mother and future Mother-In-Law want to know what colros they should consider (and the colors that they shouldnt consider).

We just went with our favorite colors. Both of our favorite colors are yellow and green, based on a pair of FIs shoes!! I think our colors go really well with our season too! I think you can pick colors based on your favorite colors, colors that work well with your venue, colors that you think will be appealing in your photos, colors that are popular at that time, etc etc. I think everyone has different reasons for choosing their colors!

for me, it was very obvious that our wedding was going to be pink- my favorite color. pink makes me happy, and that’s just the way it is. i didn’t want the wedding to look like pepto or a sweet 16 party, so we added lots of other spring colors everywhere because i also wanted a garden wedding.
people sometimes just go with colors that go with their season, or go through different magazines or inspiration boards to see what they like.

Our colors are pink and navy. I picked pink because I thought it was bright and happy. We picked navy because it is neutral (I had thought about brown, but didn’t think it would work for us) and it is FI’s favorite color. I don’t think our colors relate to the season of our wedding at all.
Your wedding sounds like it will be very green (scenery), maybe pick a color other than green? You could always browse pictures of weddings and see what color combos speak to you.
