I’m getting married in June 09. I know it’s too early to be thinking of this but what are some summer type colors that would look pretty outside with the sunset. I’m looking for some non traditional types. Since I have alot of planning time I hoping for some unique suggestions.

The most overlooked color for a summer Wedding is a pale Yellow.
A very pale chiffon yellow bridesmaid dress, would be beautiful at sunset, accented with bouquets of all yellow flowers (there are a lot of them). Table settings can have the light yellow satin floor length linen with a crisp white overlay, and white chairs. If you want to introduce another color, in small doses I would recommend a sky blue for the accent color (napkins perhaps?). The ring bearer could wear a seersucker suit (maybe even the groom’s men), and the flower girls could wear white dresses with yellow and/or blue sashes….
You couldn’t get a more summer look with yellow for the sun and blue for the sky!

Hi LisaBride! I have a post on the Pantene color system coming out tomorrow, but as a preview, you might find their spring 2008 color guide helpful for thinking about summer wedding colors: http://www.pantone.com/pages/pantone/Pantone.aspx?pg=20492&ca=4
One other thing to do is to take a sunset photo that makes your heart go pitter patter and to insert it in one of the color palette generators I posted about today. That might give you a sense of the colors that might work. Let us know what you pick!

I think Pale Yellow is not as overlooked anymore. I selected it as one of my summer colors (I’m a June 09 bride as well!) and since then I see and hear it everywhere. But it’s not detering me. I’m getting married at the beach on the Cape (Mass) at 6pm and our colors are Navy Blue, Pale Blue, Grass Green and Pale Yellow. I would like yellow flowers, thats why the yellow. :o)

I love the idea of turquoise, aqua, or light blue paired with a peach/coral/orange!
Good luck and have fun!
