Greetings, hive! I have decided on my dress (LOVE IT!) and am now obligated to include black into the wedding colors, which I had not planned on. I have nothing against black and think it would be amazing at the venue, but am looking for some help. Which colors come to mind when you envision
“ROMANTIC, MOODY, MODERN VINTAGE, FRENCH CHIC, EVENING COCKTAIL CEREMONY/RECEPTION”?
I will post my dress and a few ideas I like, as far as color palettes. I will include a poll for the colors I enjoy and include an “other” and would LOVE your opinion below. Keep in mind, it will just be the honey and I, as we have no bridal party. We are having a very intimate ceremony and then a lively, bustling reception. The venue- modern log cabin with exposed wood beams, cement floors, stone/brick walls and windows from ceilling to floor, plus a central stone fireplace.
Opinions are greatly appreciated! xoxo

I think if you’re going for romantic and French, the avocado or something soft-but-not-pastel is your best bet. Black can be harsh, so softening it makes sense to me; it’ll look most sophisticated, though, if you go for a color that’s got some gray in it (like your gray-green avocado).

I love the avocado/black. I can see that working so well with your venue–it’s so modern and fresh!

I agree!! The avocado/black is my favorite combo for that same reason. It says pure, modern, chic to me and it beautifully matches my venue and dress! 🙂

Love the dress, and I think the black/avacado colour combo will be super rich, sophisticated cocktail looking.
I like that you are looking for ‘moody’. A dark look (black table cloths?) would definitely have that kind of drama.

@cvbee: My thoughts exactly. 🙂 I love the look of dark tables, lush, candlelit centerpieces and vanilla pedastals with grapes, cheese, crackers and wine at the tables for snacking without having to get up!

I personally LOVE the fuchsia/black combination. I would’ve done that if I wasn’t having a beach/ destination wedding.

Avocado/Black portrays a more french and vintage feel to me. the rich black and the soft avocado meshes very well… Could add a touch of cream/vanilla for that extra POP of color too 🙂

I like avocado & black as well 🙂 And I love your dress! In the photo are you at Weddings By Design in WDM? I feel like I recognize the store…I tried on dresses there when I was home (I grew up in Ames!)
