I say stick with your original color scheme and add touches of “movie”. I see no reason for a “movie” themed wedding to be black, white and red.

“On Golden Pond” was a great movie with beautiful fall scenery.

Ditto for “When Harry Met Sally”

I don’t think that red, black and white isn’t fall. But if you switch out the black for brown it might feel more fall.

You could also try a deeper pink/purple (wine?), red and brown. You can still have coral in the flowers like in the middle picture.

Can you elaborate on the movie theme a little more? You will probably get more help if it isn’t so broad. If it’s just naming tables, I don’t see what the color matters. Colors aside, what were you picturing?

Aw you sound so stressed! I think all of your ideas sound beautiful, so really, whatever you choose is going to turn out lovely. Here are my $0.02:

1) To me, a lake house property doesn’t dictate a theme. I don’t see why you couldn’t have a movie theme at a lake house property. It sounds like a really neutral venue where you can do whatever you like! If you were getting married in a library then you may want to do a literature or vintage theme, if you were getting married on a farm then you might want to have a rustic theme… But I think your venue choice allows you a ton of flexibility.

2) I love the colors you originally chose! And since you mentioned that you like peach and your FI loves orange/peach, then you should go with those colors (especially since guys don’t usually chime in on color choices! you’re a lucky one to get some feedback! if he wants something, I say go for it!). You do not sound sold on the black and red theme, and I think those colors have been pretty played out – your first color palette is very original and I think it would be beautiful for a fall wedding.

3) I 100% agree with julies1949 that a “movie” themed wedding has to be black, white, and red. A theme isn’t necessarily the same thing as the color palette – for example, I’ve seen a circus-themed wedding with a color palette of gold and blush and it was to.die.for. Choose whatever colors you like, whatever theme you like, and then find or create elements of that theme – such as movie posters, a movie-themed cake, table numbers with movie titles, a popcorn bar, etc. – that are decorated in the colors that you choose. Does that make sense?

4) If it helps you to visualize things, you should spend some time on The Perfect Palette. I got a lot of inspiration from that website, and it even lets you build your own inspiration board. Here’s their Pinterest board with all of their palettes – http://pinterest.com/perfectpalette/color-palette-library/

ETA: How about these colors – is this close to your original idea?

If you have trouble locating “movie” items, try this site

  http://www.hollywoodmegastore.com/

Centrepieces can be all out Hollywood or place your flower arrangement on top of a film can. You can paint the cans to go with your color palette.

Have a poster customized with your pics- use it at the entrance , guestbook or escort card table

Instead of a red carpet, you could use a “walk of fame” which will go with your colors. You can repeat the “star” as an escort card.

Label your favor bags and tags appropriately if you do favors

Have a lobby sign with a movie reference
