The venue I’ve got my eye on has some lovely purple accents that I think would look beautiful with green (fern with emerald touches maybe?), which is our favorite color. However, we’re having a winter wedding, January most likely.
Do you think it would be weird to have a spring-y color scheme at a winter wedding? Any other thoughts about color schemes not fitting with the season?

I’m having a purple/green January wedding!
I think generally you can go whatever, but I would be a little weirded out to see pastels or bright yellow and coral in a winter wedding.

I think you should pick whatever colours you like the most, regardless of season. I am having an aqua and coral wedding in October!

I think it sounds lovely. Could you force spring bulbs for centerpieces, by that time of year a little bit of early spring is a welcome relief!

I’m having champagne, burgundy and chocolate for our April wedding. Those are the colours we like so we’re sticking with it. We really don’t like pastel colours.
Go with the colours you want. It’s YOUR day. 😀

If your concerned about the season, how about tweaking your color scheme so that it fits the season better? I think your wedding colors in jewel tone would look lovely.

The only time I think this really matters is if you’re getting married outside specifically for a certain season (like a beach wedding in the summer). All other times I don’t think you have to match your colors to the season. Do what you want and go with what you love!

@musician32992: I don’t think it matters at all 🙂 and anyway, you can choose different colours to your wedding ‘season’ and incorporate the season in a different way if it’s really important to you. My friend had a winter wedding but used pastel blue and pink, but used red berries as accents. It was pretty sweet.

I’m getting married in August and our colours are quite dark…midnight blue and claret!

Oh I’m so glad you asked this and so glad everyone is saying no, it does not matter! Our colors are pale pink, pale peach, and champagne and we’re getting married in the fall. I’ve had more than one person asking why we aren’t using classic fall colors. Ugh!
It will be beautiful no matter what!

I wanted peach, mint, and gold, and by god, I was going to have it whenever I got married. We originally considered November, and that was still the plan then, and it’s also the plan in August.
I love fall colors, but it wasn’t what I wanted for my wedding. One of my friends is getting married this november and has somehow been bullied by her mother in law into having a “fall” theme, when she really wanted gold and cream.
