Ok, my first post but I’ve been lurking… 🙂 Not yet officially engaged (the ring is ordered and will be here soon). I’m 34, he’s 42, and just want to get this show on the road, including kids! So we are looking at venues for a short engagement and of course everything is fairly booked. Options at my favorite are: February 13 or June, 2016.
June is already hot as hades here. But February 13 – is it open because no one wants to get married the day before Valentine’s day? Would people mind that? We are very low key about this so I’m sure we can find the rest of the vendors (hopefully!).

I think most people do not choose to get married in February because it’s typically colder (I am not sure where you live), and not considered “wedding season”. Heck you might score a great deal on your location and vendors. No one would even think about it being the day before Valentines Day

I wouldnt really mind going to a feb 13th wedding. a feb 14th wedding on the other hand, i wouldnt attend.

I agree! There’s nothing worse then sweating during a summer wedding. Since it’s not actually Valentine’s day I don’t think people will mind, could you maybe do it two days before Valentine’s?
I booked my wedding off season and saved a couple thousand with our venue, caterers, florist and dj!

Are you getting married in Houston (I’m guessing from your name)? I am also geting married in Houston and I actually wanted to get married on February 13th because that would be exactly 1 year from the proposal and on our third dating anniversary. HOWEVER, when we tried to book that date, it turned out that there was a huge oil and gas convention in Houston at that time and all the hotels are already completely booked up! We have out of town guests so we moved our date to April. Just something to consider if you are getting married in Houston and a reason why that date is probably still available….

In that case I would advise against the Feb 13th date if you have people traveling. The rates for hotels are out of control that entire week. Maybe think of something indoors that would work for June? If it’s going to be mostly locals, the February date could be ok 🙂

Another Houston area bride here! I steered completely away from summer months due to the weather. My family is coming from up north and I would not subject them to the Texas heat for an outdoor wedding.
What part of town are you looking to get married in? If it is technically outside the city the conventation may not be an issue. I know where I live the conventations don’t reach our hotels.

Another thing to think about is the cost of flowers especially red roses increases substantially around Valentines
