So my mom gave me this advice for my wedding day, and I think it’s perfect:
During the reception, at some point, step away from the mingling and responsibilities and dancing, find a quiet corner where there aren’t a lot of people, and just look at your wedding. Take it all in, center yourself and take a moment to realize where you are, because the time will fly by and before you know it, it’ll all be over.

That sounds like really good advice. From the stories people share, it sounds like everything goes by in such a blur, you don’t even realize what’s happening.
Where I work, we’ve started leading therapy groups that have mindfulness (being aware of how you’re feeling and what you’re experiencing) as a key component of the group. I’ve been really trying hard to practice it (it’s not easy!) and I’m hoping to be able to utilize this the day of my wedding. I want to have some memories. 🙂

I got similar advice, to get your new husband and go somewhere private and take it all in. Thats what Darling Husband and I did after our ceremony, we went to the bridal suite, sat for for a couple minutes saying we can’t believe we’re married, blah blah blah, practiced our first dance (we got dance lessons and hadn’t had time to practice the week leading up) and then sat for another minute and enjoyed the peace and quiet. It was nice to step away from everyone and everything and enjoy what our wedding was all about, us!

Would it be weird for the bride to bring a camara to her own reception and take some pictures? Cuz I REALLY want to do that!
I love your mom’s advice and I will be doing that next weekend 🙂 Maybe I can take pictures while I take my moment 🙂
