I ended up hiring a day-of coordinator mainly to set up all the tables and decorations. Plus I needed someone to cue the music for the ceremony since we are just using an ipod for that. Taking care of all the vendors so I don’t have to was just a bonus! I found someone who could be a second “me” on the day and it so far has been worth every penny.

Hi we organised the whole wedding ourselves, but we’re getting a DOC, because we want to relax and not have to do a thing but get married. I tihink it’ll be worth it but I can’t wait to hear married ladies’ comments!

@mrsspitz13:  Where are you getting married? My venue had a coordinator who was there through the ceremony and started us off at the reception.

I have a very affordable luncheon venue, and they actually had a DOC for us!

I just spoke to a DOC yesterday to get a proposal from her. I’m a former event planner and was certain I could do it on my own… but I don’t think I WANT to do it on my own on the day of! My venue requires that I bring in my own caterer, rentals, etc. (nothing is provided) so there are a lot of loose ends that must be tied together by someone. I feel like I really need someone there, though at the beginning of the process I would have said it was a superfluous cost.

If you can fit it into your budget, I bet it’s worth every penny!

Best thing I did for my wedding was get the DOC. You will not regret it. She was the go-to girl for everything under the sun, and saved the day multiple times so that my friends, family, MOTHER, and most importantly ME didn’t have to do anything but enjoy. A wedding, although intimate, it also like a show. AND every show needs a stage manager. Youcannot be the lead role, and the stage manager. I know some people can, and have done it wonderfully. But if you are even on this board questioning if you need help, I say GO FOR IT.  We have video footage of my DOC hanging tulle and fixing items that we didn’t even know needed fixing. In the rain none the less! Go fot it girl. Best money I spent
