Does anyone have tips on having a day-of wedding coordinator? We have a business in town here that offers wedding day help with some initial consultation to review the plan, but it’s a bit pricey. I don’t mind doing all of the vendor research, booking, and details on my own, but I’m worried about the flow of the actual day if I don’t have someone to direct everything.
Has anyone run their day without a coordinator? How did it go and how did you pull it off?

I STRONGLY suggest a day of coordinator. I diy’ed EVERYTHING and was going to rely on a family friend (which I feel would have done a geat job) to coordinate the decor aspect of our day until my hubby suggested a coordinator. I am an event coordinator and our budget was TIGHT…. like squeaky tight so I was against it. It wasn’t until a month before that I thought it was worth it. I couldn’t imagine spending all this time and money on creating our day and then have something go wrong the day of the wedding. I contacted a friend who is also a wedding coordinator and approached her about coordinating the day for us. She agreed to be a “working” guest for us. IT WAS THE BEST MONEY SPENT! EVER!
I still did alot the day before. We were able to set most of the reception tables up so all my friend did was keep us on time and transfer decor from ceremony to reception. If it wasn’t for her my wedding wouldn’t have been nearly as enjoyable. She gave me the peace of mind to sit back relax and enjoy the once in a lifetime moments.
She handled our rehearsal, oversaw the day and worked with the venue, kept us on track and dealt with all the unexpected issues for us. She truly made our day. I can’t believe I was going to just wing it. Even though I was organized things still happen….no event goes on without a hitch.
If it is an option I say take advantage. Just be sure they know what you want and expect for your special day!!! Our wedding day was fantastic and it wasn’t until AFTER the wedding we started to hear stories about what happened that wasn’t planned. 😉
Good luck. 🙂

I have run a few but I was also a hospitality sales manager for a hotel at the time so I had a really good understanding of what needed to be done. I have since helped a few others along the way. You definately need someone to direct for you the day of the wedding. You don’t need those extra hassels that are typically minor and not stuff you should have to deal with. Check with all of your friends to see if they may know of someone. It’s your day – ENJOY as much as you can!
