I’ve been wanting to get something for my fiance to give to him on our wedding day as a surprise while he is getting ready with his groomsmen… problem is I’m not sure what to get! I do plan on writing a note and sending one tiny little sentimental thing from the beginning of our relationship but I’d like to get him something nice that he will love as well. Has anyone else thought about this or done this? What did you get/plan on getting?
I’ve bounced around the idea of a Dolphins jersey (he’s a nutso fan), “Khal & Khaleesi” mugs from Game of Thrones (nerdy but he loves that show), a nice watch, and a few other things but don’t know what would be appropriate… help!

I just asked my fiance what he wanted, since I super-hinted about (ahem, basically just told him) what I wanted. He said he wanted a nice watch, so I found a few I liked, and he made the final decision. It worked out well, but he’s sad he has to wait until after the ceremony to wear it (b/c I can’t wear my present until after either! Kate Spade “mrs” necklace)
Good luck picking a gift!!

I gave my Darling Husband a pair of St Louis Cardinals cufflinks (he is also a nutso fan). I wanted to give him something he could wear during the wedding that would be HIS (he wore tuxes that were rented thru Mens Warehouse) and could have forever.
He loved them… caught him off guard! 🙂

I’m having the same dilemma. I already bought him a watch not too long ago and he doesn’t wear cufflinks – those are the two most traditional groom gifts. I have no idea what to get, but I think your jersey idea sounds good if you don’t go with the watch!

Cufflinks are a good idea. He never wears them but it could be cute to give them so he could wear them for the wedding and then keep as a nice keepsake. I’ll have to see about finding some Miami Dolphins ones.

I got him Rayban sunglasses that he had been admiring, and lego cufflinks (he loves legos haha what a kid). He was thrilled. 🙂

@hlayers: I know this is not exactly what you are looking for but I did up a box of tIndus for him for the wedding day – a card which I wrote last week, a pair of engraved cuff links, a pair of groO’M socks, a teeshirt that says ‘under new management’, scent, A hip flask and a few other bits. I think he’ll really like it 🙂

Traditionally if a couple exchanges gifts they have been items that will last a lifetime… so more often than not Jewellery.
Actually… giving a Wedding Gift to The Groom is a fairly new thing… in that the Gifts used to be just for the Bride, and would come often in the way of a nice piece of jewellery that she might wear on her Wedding Day (be they from her Groom, or from her immediate family)
When it comes to guys… popular items tend to be any of the following … a Watch – Pocket Watch, Chain & Fob – Cuff Links (with or without Shirt Studs) – Money Clip – Tie Tack or Clip – Collar Pin – Bracelets – Chains – Dogtags – Diamond Earring – Shirt Sleeve Garters – or a Silver Hip Flask
Most of these are also engraveable… a nice touch.
Personally… Mr TTR and I exchanged watches… as we thought it a fitting way to mark the fact that we’ve committed our lives to each other “for all time”
Hope this helps,

- Wedding: September 2013 - Creek club at ion, SC
I plan on giving mine a pair of Jordans hes always wanted as hes a huge basketball fan.
Hes not a jewelry person and hates bling (he says metal straps remind him of shackles and chains …. i dunno why) but there are a lot of compromises out there, for example i got him a black watch strap with tyre marks for his bday He loved it.
It really does depend on their personality

I’m giving mine a boudoir album, and I am considering a pair of cuff links as well. The boudoir album is obviously a fun thing for him, but I love the idea of giving him a nice piece of jewelry that will have a special connotation in the future.
