jaimimarie28 :  We didnt do gifts on the wedding day. We are instead saving up a bit of money for gifts for eachother. I am getting a new fridge (I know, silly and practical) and he wants a new trolling motor for the boat.

jaimimarie28 :  I got him a set of Cartier cufflinks with a little note how I’ll like it to become a future heirloom for our family, and a MS Surface Book with another note saying “here’s a little something to help you continue writing our love story”. He has been blogged about our relationship for the last 10+ years on his private blog.

jaimimarie28 :  I didn’t want to give my DH something he wouldn’t actually care about. He’s not into jewelry in the slightest, so a watch or cufflinks were out, which seem to be some of the popular things. I wanted to get him something that he could be proud to show off and that he could pass down to a son (if we have one) one day. My DH collects guns so I got him a new handgun and had it engraved with ‘Mr & Mrs. S***’ and our wedding date on it. He loved it and actually cried a little bit when he opened it.

He got me a Tacori diamond necklace.

I got my husband a watch. He picked it out, so it wasn’t exactly a surprise, but that guaranteed that he loved it!

jaimimarie28 :  If you do end up wanting to do that, I know of a really good place that does laser engraving on firearms. They were awesome to work with. DH already buys everything he wants, too – so I know how you feel! I had to change the gun I planned on buying because he bought one almost exactly like what I originally planned! Here’s a picture

jaimimarie28 :  We didn’t do anything – we’re hard enough to buy for the rest of the year and had already spent enough money between the wedding and a house.  It was lovely to knock that tradition right off the list.  However, my husband would have loved

futuremrss17‘s idea, no question. The cufflinks thing fascinates me – I don’t know more than one person in my life who would need or have a use for those.  Isn’t it funny how different the circles we run in are?

jaimimarie28 :  We do not want to spend a lot of money, as we are considering the honeymoon adventures to be our “gifts and celebrations” to/with one another as newlyweds. That being said, when we started dating, I wrote little journal entries to myself…..our first date, when I knew he was the one, when I felt like I was falling in love, when we started looking for homes to buy together, etc. I took our engagement photos and made a journal on Shutterfly with a couple pictures on the front, and transferred the journal entries into there. We agreed to write each other a letter to read on our wedding day, so that will be the last letter in the journal. I also got him a retractable fishing rod (since his rod broke this summer that he has had for 20ish years), a reel that is green (his favorite color) and made a tag that’s says you’re my greatest catch to tie onto the rod. I have no idea what he’s doing. But we set a limit of $50.

Just bought the Montblanc augmented paper, he’s been eyeing it for a while. I’ll probably write a little love note in it.

We did not exchange gifts but I did buy him a crochet hook from the dollar store and wrapped it up for him, lol.  Came in handy later.
