Hi Bees,
I need your help! I am slowly building up on my wedding day look, but I am completely at a loss as to what sash I should choose. My dress is very plain – no beading whatsoever. I love it that way, however, I would like to wear a sash to liven it up a bit. Our colours are night blue and gold (though there will be some touches of ivory and silver). I am most likely getting my shoes made by shoes of prey and will look something like below. I am still undecided on a necklace – but most probably something with pearls and rhinestones. Oh, I am not wearing a veil – I tried on a headpiece with a birdcage kind of veil – I don’t have an exact image of it.
I would need some help with the sash…should I go for something gold or pearly or mixed pearls and rhinestones, just rhinestones or just a flower? I added a poll for sashes I found mostly on etsy and that I quite like. If you have any other suggestions, I’d love to hear your suggestions! Do you think there is too much going on already? Thank you so much!
The dress:

The headpiece I tried was maybe a mixture of these…no bling on it whatsoever, just a few feathers and a flower:

The necklace (however, it should alternate between pearls and rhinestones):

@orchids_bloom: Hi, thank you for your suggestion! I am not quite sure on the colour of the sash…it looks pretty pink/ dusty rose to me….I am not sure it’ll work with our colours…I am really sorry I can’t help you out!

@Aprilsfool: I love one! I do like five too. Six hasn’t got enough of a spread of bling, as it’s only in the middle. I think the bling ones go best with the lace – they create a nice balance. I think one is same to the one that you’re wearing in the picture with the dress, which is stunning by the way.

I voted for sash #3 because I feel your dress and this sash are very romantic.

I wonder if you could do something like #1 or #3’s beading but on a gold sash instead? I feel like that would be the best option to throw a bit of colour in there. Quite honestly thought #1 is my favourite blush and all.

I think that’s one of the dresses I tried on…. I liked it with a big floral belt.. I like bold colours.. but I tried it on with a white one too which looked really nice

@CatyLady: Thank you for your input! I also thought, I might have to add at least a little bit of bling…I agree, the first one is very similar to the one I wore. I don’t know what kind of sash that was though – the assistant just pulled it from a little box with different accessories and put it on…
@m16surgeon: Thanks for replying! I also like the pearls quite a lot, since they make the sash look softer (if that makes sense)…
@jlc3: Ha, yeah, that was what I was thinking. However, I did some research and the first one actually only comes in ivory, white and light gold….(it’s a Mori Lee sash). So I was actually wondering, whether the blush isn’t actually the light gold ?! Thanks for your reply.
@MrsPhilly: Yay – you tried on the dress (BTW, I love the dress you chose in the end!). I like the last sash you posted! That one is stunning! I don’t know if it works with my dress though?! Since the assistant only tried the one sash (in the picture of me), I am clueless as to what a “beading all around the waist” sash (sorry, I am at loss how to describe that sash) would look like. It’s definitely an option!

You look great in your dress! I voted other because I have a suggestion ๐
How about you skip a necklace? I think with a sash, your headpiece and your very unique shoes you might end up having too many accessories. I found a sash on Etsy that I think sort of continues the “leaf/petal” theme on the T-strap on your shoes – and it’s blingy AND gold-tone like your colours ๐ What do you think?

@MsMeow: Thank you! I was wondering whether it will be too busy with an additional necklace..then again, nobody really sees the shoes, right? Also, I feel without strapy, the neckline looks kind of empty -if that makes sense. I really like the sash you suggested – but am not sure, if it is really me. I will keep thinking about it some more…

@Aprilsfool: Oh yes, I know very well what you mean about the neckline looking empty without straps, I used to hate it but now I’ve grown to love it because I like to think it makes me look taller ๐
You’re right about the shoes hardly being visible. Too bad though, they’re so interesting! Btw, how tall are you? If you’re on the tall side you can get away with more accessories – from my perspective as a tiny person it sounded like a bit much but I forgot to take height into consideration ๐
And I agree, you really need to “own” everything you wear – if it’s not really “you” you’ll feel odd, I think. Consider wearing a thinner or less adorned sash if you’re going to wear a necklace though. Both sashes MrsPhilly suggested are great. Or maybe you could go for something even thinner that continues your flower theme, like this?

@MsMeow: well, I hate to say it, but I am not very tall ๐ I think 5’4”…so I don’t get away with more accessories.. ๐ However, I love that sash you just posted! It’s absolutely gorgeous! Where did you find it? Etsy?

@Aprilsfool: Don’t worry, you’re taller than me! ๐ I’m 157 cm short so 5’2″ on a very tall day! lol
