My Godmother’s Daughter is coming in to do everyone’s makeup.  She is amazing and I am just going to give her some $$$ for being sooo sweet to come in and do everyone’s makeup!

I’m having mine professionally done because I’m a total make-up klutz.  Most days I just wear tinted moisturizer and lip gloss.  On my wedding day, I need something with a little more staying power (getting married outdoors in FL).

My sister is going to do mine.  She’s really good at doing make-up.  She used to do mine for prom and homecoming and stuff like that.

WOW thanks for the feedback girls! I do plan on going with my friend who has even more freckles than me to get some advice on a)what to buy and b)how do go about doing my own make up. One of my best friends who will be at the wedding also has freckles too and would help me. I think between my friends and me, we can do it! But I will look into buying some quality foundation, etc.

I was thinking about having it done too, but I’m too afraid someone will completely mess it up.  At least if I learn how to do it well, I know what I want and I can do what I want.

Great question! I am on a tight budget (read: 0) for hair and makeup. But, I know my limitations. I do fine with my makeup for day-to-day stuff. But for a wedding? I can’t. I know this. I’m very fair, and camera flashes just penetrate my skin and my regular makeup. If I do my own makeup, I will be pink and shiny in the pictures. If I’m lucky. If I’m unlucky, I’ll be purple. Plus, I can’t do my own hair. Ever. So, I’m combing Craigslist. We’ll see what happens!

One of my BFs is a beauty therapist, and has offered to do all the make up for my wedding. Only prob is, I don’t really like how she does her own! So I’m gonna have to do a trial with some dutch courage (wine) in to be able to open my gob if I’m not happy with it! Any ideas how I could arrange someone else to do it, if necessary, without offending my friend?

Also, I know I sound like a cow saying this, but I really don’t like how 2 of my bms do their own make up (talking streaks and orangeness here) so I reckon I want a professional to do theirs anyway, so it would be a bit weird to have someone do theirs but not mine!

@aunt pol I didn’t even THINK about how my Bridesmaid or Best Man do their make up! Funny! But I will say, two of them hardly ever even wear make up, so putting too much on won’t be a problem.  And the other is my lil sister and I’ve no prblm to tell her to fix her make up! Foot in mouth

I’m confident enough to do my own make up, but my hair I’m not so sure.

i’m doing my own makeup, I have NEVER liked it when anyone has done my makeup and that day is too important to me to not be happy with it!

**To all the other ladies who are planning on doing their own and worried about staying power…I am using Estee Lauder Double-Wear foundation, it is amazing!! 12 hr wear, great coverage, skin loosks smooth and flawless without feeling heavy, sweatproof & waterproof! it stays! the foundation itself is NOT photo friendly so top it off with a loose powder or bronzer that is, just ask to sales people. do lots of practice runs, and have a friend take photos of you in all kinds of different lights so you can make sure it looks right. 🙂

and for eyes, i’ve been trying all kinds of products over the last few months and i have found that bare minerals eye shadows last all day without creasing! but make sure you get the eye primer to go with it!

I am getting mine done, but at a really affordable place for only like $20.

It’s definitely worth it, because I am terrible at putting on make-up.  I mean, really terrible.
