@DeeVine1217:

I am a makeup artist too while I am not engaged yet one of my main wedding concerns is WHO WILL DO MY MAKEUP!! I have only had my makeup done once by a makeup artist and while it was not bad I am very particular about my makeup. I have a makeup artist in mind but she is all the way in CA (I’m in MI) and it will be extremely expensive to pay for her travel and everything else. I think I may have to bite the bullet and do my own and pay someone to do my BM’s.

@jigga143:  I’m a makeup artist too, and really I hate anyone coming near my eyes with anything!  So I’m doing my own.  Plus, I know my face well, know my makeup, and can slap it on in no time.  I figure it will take 20 Minutes tops, and wanted to avoid the hassle of having anyone else fidget with me.  I am getting my hair done though!

@DeeVine1217:  I say do your own for the reasons you mention and have an MUA do your BMs.

Are you going out to have hair done?  Maybe BMs can get theirs done at the same salon while you take extra time for perfect hair and veil placement?

Plus, just for timings sake you can do your own makeup while MUA works on BMs if you’re not having makeup done at a salon.

Wow, so relieved to see this post, I am having the EXACT same dilemma. On my sister’s wedding day the MUAs were atrocious and I ended up redoing my sister’s and all the bridesmaids’ makeup. After that fiasco, I had trials with a few MUAs in PEI and it did not go well. I finally saw a girl on my Facebook who had amazing makeup on her wedding day, and all of her bridesmaids looked stunning too. So I found out who her MUA was and I plan to pay for that MUA to travel from NB to do the makeup for my big day, that’s how important it is to me :P. So that’s my advice, look for a bride who’s makeup is divine and then hire her MUA – and have a trial of course! Best of luck!
