My something borrowed was actually my Mom’s perfume. I liked having that element on my wedding day.

I wore Mon Paris by Yves Saint Laurent. I honestly bought it because the bottle matched our wedding colors and I knew I wanted a photo of it with our detail shots. But it smells nice as well, so it was a win-win!

I have a collection of the Tom Ford perfumes and they’re all I’ve worn for the past 10 years or so.  Black Orchid is my favorite but I do like to mix it up, plus I like a lighter scent in hot weather.  I also like to layer different Tom Ford scents.

Wedding day, I layered Black Orchid with F*cking Fabulous.  (Yes, that’s the name of a perfume!)

I collect indie and niche perfumes, and I have a pretty sizable collection (I have a monthly perfume budget – I may have a problem).

For my wedding, I wore a scent called Luminae, by an indie house called Alkemia. On my skin chemistry (and this can vary wildly from person to person, I’d describe it as a warm, creamy vanilla backed by smooth amber, high quality wax candles (melting) and a white musk. It’s lovely, a personal favorite.

@cmartinezrose:  Versace Gold Diamond is a great scent! I really enjoy Versace Bright Crystal, as well.

The only perfume I wear is Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue, so that’s I wore!

I got into perfumes in my early thirties so you can totally do it!

what I found REALLY helpful was to swing by shops like Sephora, Nordstrom and Saks 5th ave. You can wanted around the perfume counters and smell various scents. Each time you visit pick ONE scent to try on your wrist and smell how it develops throughout the day. Over time (like months/years) you will develop a taste and understanding of what you like best and what doesn’t work – without spending a fortune trying different scents! I only buy a perfume if I sampled it and cii I don’t get it out of my head for weeks (often going back and wearing it multiple times or getting a free sample bottle).

In addition I found it really helpful to check fragrantica site and read through the reviews for each perfume I sampled. Hearing people describe what they smelled and the notes helped me understand what I was actually smelling and gave me the vocabulary to know what I liked (for me, that’s powdery, dry scents, soapy, woodsy, white florals).

@coffeewaterwine89:

For sure brings back memories a decade or so later. Wore something that was gifted by the hubby, then fiance. It really adds to the memory. Esp if it’s a small event like a micro wedding, weddingmoon type day. The little things stand out more maybe?

@allston:  that’s a really cool idea I wish I thought of that! My moms signature perfume that I will always think of her when I smell it is YSLs Opium. Classic.

the scent I chose for my wedding day was V & R’s Flowerbomb. I think it smells awesome and my husband loved it too. I now wear it for special occasions and anniversaries and it takes me back to that day.

@xiexie:  that sounds awesome I will have to look into that scent! I tend to choose perfumes that are vanilla, spicy florals or musky. Sounds like I would like that.

Chanel allure edt is a gorgeous perfume, and would make a lovely wedding perfume. It is an edt so it won’t be cloying in the heat. It’s very beautiful and classy!

Like PP, I’ll wear La vie est belle (probably the eau florale version because my wedding is in October so it’s hopefully going to be a warm day and I want something light). I really like Flowerbomb too!
