Well bees, my photos are finally in! It was super hard to pick the few (dozen) pics to show you.. this post will be a few of my favorites of the day, the next will be details, including all the DIY stuff! PS they’re more me-centric than him-centric. It feels wierd to post photos of his family and stuff, but rest assured there are some awesome pics of him and his family and his best man.
But first.. a recap.
Overall, our wedding day was a blast. I feel like “best day ever” is overused, but I have to admit I can’t think of a better day in recent memory!
We did a first look in some nearby woods, and they turned out great. The best man went with DH in one car, and I went with the photographer in another. The best man was lookout and asked people to wait while we were doing our first look (not the entire thing—just the part that wasn’t posed). We were glad we thought to do that: the trail was pretty busy that beautiful Saturday afternoon! People were more than happy to wait, it only took 15 minutes or so after all and then we were ready to pause whenever people passed by.
I was worried I wasn’t going to cry (I don’t know why that even occurred to me) but true to form I sobbed. So many times. I cried at our first look (as did DH), I cried when I saw my parents, I cried during the ceremony (but DH outright sobbed so I won on that front). DH sobbed so much that the officiant stopped, said “I usually save this for the bride…” and handed him a hankie. When it was my turn he had to share with me and people all “awwww”-ed as the officiant pointed out we were already sharing.
My favorite memory of the night is the cake cutting. Which I think is hilarious in retrospect, because I thought it was so cheesy ex-ante and we had planned to not do it until the last minute when we were like meh why not we have a cake anyway. DH and I went to get each other a bite to eat and I got him this huge chunk of cake (I like to take bites off of my fork, so I sort of assume other people do to) and he got me this tiny, dainty little bite of cake. We (along with all of our guests) realized what had happened right after we got the sizes and we all laughed… the look on his face was priceless.
DH tried to go and get me a bigger bite to be even, but I stopped him, and people started laughing even harder. He gave in and we went to do the cake feeding and he was so hesitant so I told him “I believe in you!” and of course our guests roared with laughter. In the end, he squared his jaw and went for it and ate the entire bite (to my surprise: I still assumed he’d just take a bite of what was on the fork). He then fed me the daintiest little bite. 😛
There were certainly hiccups—but I let them all go the moment I noticed them. I was too happy to be dragged down by details. The only regret I have is I forgot to get a group photo with my entire family (including uncle, aunt, cousins, etc.) even though DH asked me specifically, after we posed for a group shot with his friends from college, “Are there any group shots you want?” and I said “NOPE!” and ran off to go socialize some more at the cocktail hour. Bees—if you want a photo of certain people at the wedding (other than the people you have specifically invited to your photo hour) make sure to tell your photographer, DOC, Maid/Matron of Honor, DH, and pretty much anyone who might help you remember!
Favorite getting ready
A couple of my favorite first look photos. We cried so much, so there are many.

Seeing my parents
So many shots of us laughing our heads off during the speeches.. but trust me we are ugly, full-body-teeth-out-crying-gasping laughers so instead here is a chuckle. 😛
Cutting the cake.. and then laughing as we realize we picked very different cake bites for our spouse. He makes my life easy, I make his a challenge!
First dance.. from behind so you can see my bustle. That’s right folks, I did a Mrs Nacho! 😀 (flip-under)
