How do you spend eight hours in a bathrobe on your wedding day?

justsomebee :  I honestly can’t believe the vitrol you’ve gotten either. A gift is a gift—up to the recipient to choose how to use it. How often do people here say “a wedding invite isn’t a summons”?? It’s the same thing here! Your mom can’t MAKE you use something you don’t want, and if she tried to guilt you into it (not saying she is!), she’d be emotionally manipulative. I also think people’s responses would be vastly different if it was your future Mother-In-Law or anyone else who had gifted you said item.

klacey11 :  Of course the responses would likely be different. The whole point is it’s from her mother. OP hadn’t purchased a robe yet, her mom knew this is her favorite color, and wanted to give her something special and personal.

I’d argue that any reasonable person would suggest that, unless the Mother-In-Law were a serial killer or something, to appease her by taking a few photos. Disrupting your ~magical vision~ for 10-15 minutes as a thank you for a heartfelt gift is not anything even remotely resembling a hardship.

All this invented drama over the color of a robe given as a gift?

Who cares about what color someone wears before the wedding? Seriously?

I’m really confused as to why you would be spending EIGHT HOURS in a novelty robe?? Are you getting married in the robe?

I think you are seriously overestimating how long it takes to get ready and how long your photographer will designate to pintristy ‘getting ready photos.’ I would be seriously upset if I ended up with 600+ photos of my bridesmaids and I in robes… Can they be cute for a couple of shots? Sure. Would I force my bridesmaids to wear a robe the entire duration of them getting ready? No.

Could you get a matching one with your mom, hers could say MOB on it, you guys take photos together and then wear the white one for your bridesmaids?

You bees had me in stitches with these comments, lol.

OP you’ve had some good advice so I won’t add to it. I hope you have a good day whatever you decide to wear, your mom sounds like a sweetheart.
