Hair and Makeup started at 8:30- 9 am on site– we were able to relax and eat breakfast in my hotel room while the bridal party took turns getting hair and makeup done.

Photos started at 11:45 a.m.  We did all family and bridal party photos before the wedding on the grounds of the resort where we were staying and having our reception.  An hour and a half was plenty for this, though we might have needed more time if we had to move locations.

We left for the church at 1:15 for a 2 pm ceremony.

Reception started at four.  My husband and I did some couples photos between the ceremony and the cocktail hour, again at the resort where we were having the reception.  This took about 30 minutes.

Cocktail hour ended at 5:30 and everyone went into dinner.  We did a wedding party entrance once people were seated.  The first course was served around 6 p.m.

This timeline worked for us and we were not rushed, though we likely would have needed more time if i wanted to go to a separate location for photos or if we had to go to a salon for hair and makeup.  We got married at a resort on the water, so it had beautiful outdoor backdrops, so I didn’t feel the need to go elsewhere. I didn’t want to miss my own wedding to take photos, so I liked doing them before the reception.  I also felt like my hair/makeup was fresher and I looked better!

I would start by asking your hairdresser/MUA how long it will take to do everyone. Then add on an extra hour and work backwards from when you need to leave for the ceremony/be ready.

From everyone i talked to… They said start planning your day by ceremony time first.  Then ask MUA and hair stylist how long they need.  And talk to photogrpaher for how long they need for photos.  Then plan the rest!
