I am planning on getting a spray tan, but just a slight one. I’m looking for the ‘sun kissed’ look, but since I don’t get to the beach much, I know whatever tan I end up with will be uneven on the wedding day.

@skybride: My wedding is in late september and I usually get a good natural tan every summer.

This coming summer I just need to make sure not to have any tan lines that would show in the dress. But otherwise I will be doing my “summer tanning” as usual. I have never used a tanning bed or tried a spray tan, so I don’t think I’ll do that for my wedding either.

zero. none. zilch. tanning beds are so horrible for you (i don’t care if you go once or a million times!) and there is something about overly tanned skin & a white gown that looks super off to me. i know there are lots of brides that will disagree with me, but i think rockin’ your natural skin tone looks better in photos.

I used to love the tanning bed but as i have gotten older i have realized how horrible it is for you! I even stress sunscreen!! this is all new for me, probably in the past couple years or so but its my wedding and im getting married in feb so i know  ill be white as a ghost. i plan on doing the tanning bed (even though i hate it!) at least twice. i dont want to be tan, its feb and i dont want to look like a crazy but i def want a tad of color. plus i dont want to burn on the honeymoon so a base tan will be good. Im all for spray tans but when it starts to wear off it gets ugly and i cant have that for the honeymoon!

I’m getting married in Mexico and I am uber fair (blonde, pale, freckles) so I have to use a tanning bed prior to going or I risk getting an extreme burn. I’m going to be tanning for about 1 month prior to going and I’ll have 2 “natural” says in the sun before my wedding.

If I was getting married back home I would totally rock the pale skin! Very Nicole Kidman esk… 😉 I’ve seen some lovely photos of porcelin pale brides.

sorry to be the debbie downer on this post, i just think there is a lot of misconception when it comes to tanning & sun protection. i have family members & friends who have had skin cancer and in every instance, it was preventable.

i’m super fair too (redhead, here) and i never ever used a tanning bed for a “base tan” before traveling to mexico, caribbean, etc. i if you use a proper sunscreen & reapply there is absolutely no need to tan beforehand.

tanning under the sun or a tanning bed gives protection that is equivalent to a sun protection factor (SPF) of 4 or less — that is not adequate “base” for any kind of sun protection, especially if you are fair.

My wedding is in March so there won’t be much sun to give me some color. But I’m hoping the sun will come early and I can get a little! My Future Sister-In-Law got a spray tan for her wedding and it was horrible! She was all sticky and orange and rubbed it on everyone when she hugged them! I don’t recommend that!
