Hi everyone! I am getting married in Punta Cana this October and am really excited! I am just booking all my vendors (photographer/videographer and hair/makeup) for the big day. I was wondering if any of you could please help with the timeline, I’m having a really hard time picturing it.
We were thinking have the ceremony around 4:30 or 5 (just before sunset). The photographer offers either a full day package (he’ll come for getting ready and stay until the end of the eveniing regardless of how many hours this is) or he has an 8 hour package – I can’t figure out if it is worth it to pay more for the full day? How long do “getting ready” photos take? And how many hours is the reception normally? For first look photos how does this normally work? Does the bridal party come as well or is normally just the bride and groom? If it’s just the couple – are the rest of the photos after the ceremony during cocktail hour?
As for hair and makeup. It will be me, two bridesmaids my mom and Future Mother-In-Law. It takes just over an hour for one artist to do both hair and makeup for one person. I’m leaning towards hiring two different people so that we aren’t sitting there forever getting ready – or is it fun to spend all day together and I can save on the second vendor’s fees? What normally works best? The last wedding I was at was when I was 10 – I have no idea how this normally works.
Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

I also haven’t been to very many weddings, and the last one was 10 years ago, however mine is coming up in 18 days! So this is what our timeline looks like so far:
10:00AM: 2 bridesmaids, MOB, MOG, and me arrive at the venue to start getting ready. Hairstylist also arriving at this time.
1:30PM: Photoraphers arriving to start getting shots of us getting ready
2:00PM: 2 groomsmen, FOB, FOG, and Fiance arrive and start getting ready. Videographer also arrives and starts getting shots.
3:00PM: First look (I think it will just be me and FI)
3:30PM: Formal shots with our family and wedding party
4:30PM: End formal shots so guests don’t see us when they arrive
5:00PM: Ceremony start
5:30PM: Ceremony end, cocktail hour start
6:30PM: Cocktail hour end, recpetion begins
9:30PM: Videographer leaves
11:00PM: End of reception
I hope this helps!

ma7bride : That’s really helpful – thank you! This seems similar to what I was thinking. Do you have different people for hair and makeup? In Dominican they all do both but I was thinking if I hire two people we won’t have to wait aronud as long. also do you know how many hours you have the photographer and videographer coming for?

stephf22 : I believe we are having 2 ladies total come for hair and makeup although only the MOG will be having her makeup done, and I didn’t mention that the 2 flower girls are having their hair done too. The videographer is booked for 7.5 hrs but the photographer didn’t specify in our contract so I think he will be there from 1:30PM-11PM unless he leaves before the end.
