I bought a simple bridesmaid dress in white as a wedding dress as I really liked the cut (and the price!)….now, I am looking to make an alteration to add a little something special to it.
One idea is a single strap with a brooch at the site of attachment – please see picture of me trying that out.
Some sample brooches are – http://www.etsy.com/listing/62525661/bridal-brooch-pin-flower-petals?ref=sr_gallery_19&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=wedding+dress+brooch&ga_page=2&ga_search_type=all&ga_facet=
Or with a flower on the single strap – not sure if that will work as it may look obviously added on.
I was also thinking of lace like in this picture as I love this dress but I don’t think it will work given the tafetta material of my dress.
Any other ideas for interesting backs/straps etc would be much appreciated – I am open to pretty much anything but
I want to keep the dress simple – ie. don’t want to add too much – but I still would like something to make it stand out more.
Thanks a lot for the help!

look into adding a bolero (bakerella style) That way you don’t have to worry about whether the alteration will flow smoothly. BONUS: Pics with and without the bolero!

I love that dress! So what is going on on your left shoulder? The lacy part? Is that already a part of the dress? I like that!
The bolero idea is neat! Two different looks! I am just not a big fan of brooches.

Hey, thanks for the advice. What is bakerella style? Do you think lace bolero would go well with tafetta? Thanks!

Hi, Thanks! So far there is nothing on the dress – I was just trying on some materials. There are no straps or brooches.
I am looking in to adding either a single strap – maybe going towards the center of my back – maybe with a flower or a brooch? Or any other suggestions of course, like the bolero.

I absolutely love that lace draping over your shoulder on the left side! It adds to the dress for sure!

@indofrenchbride: Bakerella is a hostess here and wore a beautiful dress (coincidentally same dress as mine lol) with a bolero. Here’s here recap with pics:

ps: I am a BIG fan of lace and think it would look pretty with taffeta

You could also add a lace bodysuit underneath the dress (like this Enzoani)….that dress has ruching similar to yours….
