delphinia : It actually hasn’t even been altered yet as this was my first appointment! My seamstress did magic with those pins, ha ha! We’ll see how things with my hips go. I had coolsculpting done 2 weeks ago and my thighs are actually bigger than they were before due to swelling! It should subside in another week so we’ll see what/if anything needs to be let out.

hafh2016 : If I let out the dress from my waist it would be too big. He already has to sinch it in. Even still, if it were let out I think I’d still have a pooch :-/ Any shapewear suggestions?
Rhopalocera : Any suggestions for brands?

laulau17 : I love your dress! Very classic and classy.
It looks like you can see an underwear line, which is emphasising the pooch? is that under the shapewear, or is the shapewear? I could still see underwear under my shapewear so I didn’t wear any. I also had shapewear that went from my knee to just under my boobs and it completely changed my figure – I had so many people worried about how much weight I’d lost in a short amount of time haha.
Either way, it looks perfectly normal and I wouldn’t have even noticed it if you weren’t pointing it out. In person, no one will notice and if it does appear in any photos, you can ask your photographer to shop it out. I’d let your photographer know in advance too that you are a bit concious of it, as they can keep an eye out in pics, and pose you in certain ways.

As far as a brands of shapewear goes, I would recommend Rago. You can find them online. There are several older threads about them on the Weddingbee too. Otherwise, book an appointment at a lingerie store and try on different brands until you find one that you like. Whatever you choose pick a style that fits from just below your bra to your thighs for the smoothest lines.
You didn’t get many suggestions about the tummy area because you have a normal one. Just stand straight and tell the photographer you are concerned about your stomach. They will pick flattering angles and can photoshop your pictures if need be.

You need nude (not white!) shapewear that goes from just below your boobs to mid thigh or lower. Make sure it is the right size; resist the urge to go smaller.

If your dress has a low back you can try Spanx Suit Your Fancy 5 -Way Convertible Bodysuit. You can find it on the Bare Necessities website.

I think, though you said not , that is just simply too small OP, from the waist down , the actual waist and midriff look quite loose .
As for your (very small ) tummy bump , I think the underwear is doing you no favours, they look too lowcut at the top edge and actually seems to be making the bump.
Lovely dress btw!
ETA I see pps have some good ideas for shapewear.

youngbrokebride : Yeah it might be my shapewear. It is this: https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/tc-shape-away-high-waist-shaping-thigh-slimmer/4016526?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&color=nude
There is slight panneling but it’s hard for me to tell if it’s showing up in my dress without being in natural light. I’m hoping after the first set of alterations are done, I can step outside and see what it looks like.
delphinia : I think I’m going to have to take your advice and go to a lingere store. The problem that I’m running into is my torso is VERY short compared to the length of my legs. So all of the highwaisted shapewear I’ve tried on just bunches at the waist. I’d like to go the way of a bodysuit but I’m afraid the straps will show! I’m thinking I either need a bodysuit (although I’m afraid the straps will show) or maybe petite shapewear which I haven’t had luck finding.

laulau17 : I had the same issue after I bought my weddingdress. I loved it at the store but when I saw the photos I really regret my choice. So I went back to the store and discovered that the lights in the store were really bad! Just put a blister plaster or bandaid over your belly button and stand close to a window. It will look better! (I’m from the Netherlands so excuse me for maybe making mistakes writing).

laulau17 : despite the claims, shapewear isn’t magic. it isn’t going to be able to get rid of curves you have – it will just smooth them a bit, as you noted. if you have a tummy, you’ll still have a tummy. but your tummy will look firmer an smoother and not as jiggly when you move (if your tummy is the kind that jiggles, like mine (: ).
at some point, you just have to accept that a fitted dress is…fitted. and your body is your body. personally, i think you look fabulous (though I agree with a PP that those wrinkles *look* like the dress is a bit too tight in the hips. if your seamstress says it’s just the liner bunching…well, she would probably know better. but if the liner is bunching…it’s usually because the liner is too tight. i’d let it out in the hips about an inch.)
