You still have a lot of time left before the wedding.  If youre unhappy with yourself, maybe you could lose some of the weight and then try shopping again.  I plan on doing this so i understand the struggle

Please take a deep breath…..

Everything will be fine. I understand I am fat, I understand I let myself get this way but it wasn’t overnight. I’ve been chubby my entire life. I’m sure the dresses you tried on did NOT make you look fat and frumpy. The consultant should be picking dresses that are figure-flattering and if they don’t know what that is, you need to find someone else. If you view yourself as “fat and frumpy” people will see exactly that. Please stay positive and keep us updated on the dress you ordered! 😀 You have PLENTY of time if nothing is right.

Think positive 😀

@tashajaysen: BREATHE…

Here is a Fact I learned when even shopping for a Bridesmaids dress… Your street size (Normal size) and Bridal sizes are different no matter what. Dont let it discourage you. Either way, your going to be a beautiful bride on your special day. I Thank God for alterations because I had to order a 22 for a bridesmaid dress and when it arrived, it was too big but the seamstress did her thing and I was happy with the end result….

You still have plenty of time to shed a few pounds before the wedding if you would like.

Certain dresses are more flattering than others. I spent HOURS on the David’s Bridal website picking out dresses that I LOVED before I ever walked into the store. Every woman is different. Embrace your curves!!!!

But, more importantly, know that your future husband picked YOU!! He wants to spend the rest of his life with you, and not with any other woman in the world!!  Tap in to his love and support, and let him and your family and friends encourage you.  Know that he will think that you are absolutely beauiful on your wedding day, and LET yourself feel that way!!

  Hope that helps!!!

If it helps, I am in exactly the same boat as you. I’ve never even worn a dress….I’m a SS 18-20 and I’m terrified I’ll look like a snowman in a wedding dress. I’m afraid to go dress shopping.

I’ve been dieting and I have a year to feel good about myself. THEN I’ll look for a dress. Good luck!

If you can post some pics we might be able to give suggestions??

@CindyRelly:  Oh I don’t know, I love my white (well ivory dress)!  Smile

I am in the minority here I guess.  I DREADED dress shopping and was so worried I would not find anything I liked on.  I sought out dress shops that had plus size samples and I was prepared for a long search, only to find my dress at my first shop!  I was a size 20 when I bought it and am now an 18.  My belly is my trouble spot and I was surprised how well it hid my stomach.  The dress experience has by far been my favorite!  I hope China works out for you.  Until I found a style I knew I liked on, I would be too afraid to buy without trying on.  Let us know how it works out.

@chrispygal: that dress is just so beautiful on you!

OP — don’t be discouraged. I kinda worry that a replica from china may not fit as well as something you could try on here, where did you go? Maybe we could suggest some flattering dresses?

YEah. I’m a street 16 and was trying on 20’s and 22’s, but I didn’t feel like it made me look fat! Here are my favorite ones that made my waist look awesome, but I didn’t love the dresses

I know how you feel but don’t give up yet! you still have alot of time my wedding is decemeber of this year and was told to order before Aug at the latest so you have a whole year still. Defintly try again there is bound to be a dress shape that flatters you like you want! And more dresses are coming out soon for the new season.
