Recently I went dress shopping and fell in love with the Lovers Society Carter Gown…until I found out it’s about $1,500 over my budget (dress costs around $2,600 and I’m hoping to stay closer to $1,000 before alterations – would go a little higher for this dress). I’ve been scouring pre-owned wedding dress websites for the dress but have yet to find it in my size. I’d love to know if anyone has recommendations for a similar style dress!

I looked up this dress…. if this is the dress you want but its out of your budget then I suggest asking yourself what do you like about it and why? Is it the neckline? Is it all the lace? the length of the train, etc… then I would go to other bridal salons and be firm with the sales staff about what you like and are looking for… I would also suggest looking online yourself to see if you find something similar. You can also keep track of what salons carry this dress and maybe you’ll get lucky that it will go on sale!

I looked up that dress and it is beautiful! I agree with sierrameadow! I would find what you like about it and try to find that in other dresses! Or find a pre owned one as close to your size and get it altered to fit (if you’re able to).

np19aw90 : I agree that you might need to identify what it is you like most about it. The shape? The lace? The neckline?
CocoMelody is a chinese company that has been making dresses for the US market for a while now. I think this dress is pretty reminiscent, though it does have a fuller skirt
This one has some of the structural detail, but again a fuller skirt.
This has the off the shoulder element
This has the heavy lace detail
If you are set on having something even more similar, you can always contact a custom dress maker to create a replica. There are several shops on Etsy that have done good work, and a thread on the Bee that gives details about how to find them.
I also found this listing; apparently you can order it in whatever color you like.

Thank you all for these wonderful suggestions! I think what I love most about this dress is the (comfortable) off-the-shoulder look and the type of lace used. I’m already on the hunt for something similar, so will definitely be sure to keep thinking back to what I love about it!
