I’m having one custom-made for just under $200. If you go the Etsy alchemy route, it’s way cheaper…or, try to find a dressmaker to make a replica. 🙂 But you can also do a white or ivory bridesmaid dress, check out cocomyles.com…there are tons of budget options.

A good way to stay on budget is if you look on the used dress websites most of the dresses on thoes sites have never been worn and are from multi dress brides like myself!

You have not lost your mind at all. You will be able to find something you love in that price range.

I think you can do it – look for sales at bridal shows and at stores!

But the hardest part will be not trying on dresses out of your budget! Stick to your guns and you can do it!

That’s my goal too! I don’t see a point in spending over $1k for a dress I will only wear once. I don’t care how pretty it is! It’s not a priority for me. I’d rather spend the money on guests and a honeymoon!

    Totally do-able!

I’m plus size so I found it hard to find something in that budget ($600 – $700) with alterations. But I did get my dress for $1000 no tax and including alterations in Toronto.

    Just do some shopping!

@babybluz: Totally doable, especially if you don’t mind buying a sample. I spent $900 on mine, brand new, but there were loads of sample sales where I saw some in the $500 range!

    Totally doable

I actually went state-side and bought mine from David’s for $575. I’m totally happy with it. I was settled on a Mori-Lee one in Canada that was $900+tax. The David’s one is similiar style but with more detail and I had it home for $700 tax, duty, exchange included.

I’m plus size so sample sales didn’t leave me with a lot of options. If you are a size 12 or smaller you might do have some luck with off the rack.

Close to Toronto? you might try Your White Dress  http://www.yourwhitedress.com/ This is an outlet store of samples. I was going to go when I was looking, but ended up finding a dress I was happy with.

    Good luck.

Ask stores around you if they sell sample dresses.  These are dresses that people try on in the store.  You can usually get a good deal on one!

I tried on dresses at David’s Bridal (who has a ton under $1000) and found the one I liked.  It was $650 and with a $2000 wedding budget that just isn’t possible.  So I scoured the internet for the same dress and found it for $160 with the tags still on it.  It also included the crinoline and veil.

$600-$700 can easily be done, but remember that alterations can cost a couple hundred dollars so if you want your figure to include that, look for a dress that is closer to $500 and take into account accessories.

I think it’s doable.  I tried on dresses ranging from $200 – $3,000.  I loved some in all ranges.  Mine ended up being in the middle, around $1,200.

I don’t know what you are looking for, but I found a dress I loved from Aria. It’s in this picture… And it’s only $295 in the fabric I liked the most. Originally I thought I liked the one that cost $455, but I like the cheaper option better!

I paid just over $500 for my dress. I bought a store sample, so it was a new dress, but it was half price. Then I paid $225 for alterations.
