So after 100 dresses and opinions on which remake site to use I think I have finally decided to take a risk and go with DressilyMe! I’ve seen some of the dress girls on here have gotten from them and they’ve been beautiful! It’s also faster and cheaper than Jasmines.
I’m getting a replica of Allure 8965. DressilyMe says normally they do a zipper back with decorative buttons but I asked if they could actually have loops for the buttons to button over the zipper. They asked “so you would want functional buttons? Would you still want the zipper?”
My question for you guys is:
Would I still want the zipper? Would I want the buttons to button over top the zipper? Or would I just strictly want the buttons?

@juliamarie32: can I ask why you would choose functional buttons over decorative ones?

I’ve noticed on some replica dresses or cheaper dresses that they sit on side of the zipper so you can still see the zipper and that they’re just sitting on top.

Ask them for a zipper closure with buttons and elastic loops to close over the zipper. IMO, you need the zipper to secure the dress, but the elastic loops would allow the buttons to cover the zipper.

Okay thanks! That’s what I was thinking would be the best to do but I wasn’t sure.

@Mrs Canuck: +1
@juliamarie32: The poster above has the best advice. I had a zipper but I also had decorative buttons with the elastic loop closure. The buttons looked beautiful and since they had the loops they laid flat and completely covered the zipper. Make sure to have a crochet hook on hand when you get back to your hotel room so you new husband can get you out of your dress 😉

It depends on how large your dress is. I had a large ball gown and thank goodness I had a zipper with faux buttons over top because let me tell you, going to the bathroom was a nightmare!! I learned that the BEST way to do this was to unzip out of the dress, step out, go, step back in, zip, done! If I had a corset or real buttons, forget it, not peeing alll night!
Not to be too graphic, but what you don’t think about, is sure, you can get your maids to hold it over your head and you can sit down but you can’t really finish off the job because your hands are trapped!! Sorry if Too Much Information, haha

Re-opening this thread — has anyone done this, and about how much did it cost?
