If it’s the beading and lace scratching you then the only thing that will really work is some fabric protection so what the seamstress suggested may work. However I have some beaded and sequin dresses and some lace bras that scratch/itch/irritate my skin and there’s no good solution because for the dresses the outside of the dress scratch against my arm/armpit and obviously you can’t really cover the outside of the dress.

You’re gonna wear the dress for many hours so think carefully how you’ll cope in it. Comfort should come reasonably high.

I had a tiny but distinct bruise on one side of my waist from my wedding gown, I didn’t feel a thing apart from it getting a bit tight after dinner and cake but once my husband helped me out of it I realised how there had been one painful pressure point from the boning on one side.

You might want to consider a 2nd outfit as a backup to change into after the first dance and cake cutting has been done. You’ll have all the important photos in your main gown but in case you are really suffering in the dress at that point you would be able to make a quick change and enjoy the party for the rest of the night.
