I ordered my dress (Casablanca) on January 6th, and they told me it would take about 16 weeks for it to come in. So I figured it would be here mid to the end of April. I called the Bridal Boutique today and they said that the ship date is June 25 and takes a week after that to come in….that puts my dress arrival at July 3rd and my wedding date is August 7th! I ordered my dress 7 months before my wedding which I have been told is reasonable, since they tell you about six months is good. The boutique would NOT give me Casablanca’s customer service number and said that because of the recession and cutbacks they are behind. I’m sorry but the recession is NOT my problem when I paid almost a grand for a wedding dress. I know that I ordered a corset back instead of a zipper back but the boutique told me 16 weeks even with that. I”m so scared! I have to get the dress bustled at the very least, what if it needs other alterations? And what if it’s later than that? What would you do? Am I being unreasonable? I don’t want to be a bridezilla but I don’t want to be a doormat either!

Did the store write your estimated delivery time on the order? Normally a month is plenty to finish alterations, but if they have to do a rush alteration the store should waive the additional fees considering they could not deliver on promised date. Alterations can be done in one day if necessary if someone’s working on it full time! Seamstress normally tell you 6-8 weeks because they have to allocate their time to multiple brides simultaneously.

My seamstress said she will do the alterations 3 weeks before Check with the seamstress and see what is the minimum amount of time she needs.

Try calling another Casablanca retailer, maybe they can provide you with their #. Worst case you should be able to have your alterations rushed.

To be honest, I think you’ll be fine. It’s better to do alterations closer to your wedding date anyhow to make sure you get the best fit and don’t have to alter it again for small changes. What I would do is mark down June 25th on your calendar (or even the week before) and just call and make sure it’s been sent out on the ship date and then call again on July 3rd (or even 2nd), but that’s just me.

I just went for my first fitting and i’m getting married in less than 20 days at this point. You will be fine, but take some preventative measures right now. Get the tentative date from the store. and every three weeks call back and get an updated date of when it should come in. Also call now to make an appointment for your fitting and tell them that they must make sure they get all your fittings and alterations done in time or thunder will strike upon them :-p maybe not that last part, but tell them that you need it done as soon as it comes in and made a priority. hope this helps you 🙂

I wouldn’t panic. You should have plenty of time to have your dress altered. That being said, it could always come in early. That happend to me – the wedding shop said that it wouldn’t be shipped until the end of April and I had my first fitting April 10th!

I was told to start having alterations done in February for my May wedding, so I went in the middle of February. I was able to pick my dress up two weeks later completed and didn’t need another fitting! And my dress needed to be taken in a lot at the top because I am not top heavy at all! I think you should be fine because 4 weeks is definitely enough time to have alterations done. That way too if your weight fluctuates you don’t have to worry so much because the alterations are being done very close to the wedding.
