If you are like me, when you did your search for a wedding dress, you found tons and tons of stock photos of the hottest dresses ever that could be custom made just for you in China for a price that was quite gentle on the old purse strings. I was sooooooo skeptical, but I couldn’t find a dress that I liked enough to warrant the price, and I kept getting drawn back into the lure of the custom dress.
I finally decided that, if I do get a dress custom made from China, I’d stick to ebay, because that is one place where risks can be mitigated and minimized. So the search began. I looked at styles, prices, and feedback to the point of nauseum. I found a few styles that I liked, and I emailed the sellers to see if they could make some tweaks to the design (I have a tattoo on my shoulder that I wanted covered, so I asked about adding sleeves to the dresses that I liked. The one that couldn’t add sleeves offered to make me a jacket for free). Weeks and weeks after researching and comparing, I finally decided on a style, purchased and waited. Within 21 days, my dress had arrived! EEEK!!! AND IT FIT! I do have to have some things adjusted (a little tuck at the bosom, and a little pulled in on the sides…thanks to a few weeks of dieting). But $150 and free shipping was DEFINITELY worth it. I’m meeting the seamstress this weekend and hopefully her prices will keep my dress at a total steal!
