I purchased my gown from a reputable department store back in January. I feel in love with a gown, was measured and that was it. Fast forward to June. My dress arrived, and I went with family and friends to try it on. To my shock and horror, the dress was too small. I’m mean so small I couldn’t walk or sit down. I was so confused because my measurements were the exact same as when I was first measured. The ladies in the store told me not to worry and that the dress just needed to stretch. To stretch it out, they had me take laps around the wedding suite doing lunges in front of my entire family. I was so embarrassed, but I thought, hey, they’re the experts so they must know what they’re talking about.
Since then, I’ve been killing myself trying to lose weight so I can fit into my wedding dress. when I never wanted or needed to lose weight in the first place. I started to realize that something is very wrong so, I looked up the size chart for my dress. Turns out that the department store ordered my dress 3 sizes too small. No wonder it didn’t fit! I brought this to their attention immediately, and they are told me that it’s my fault because I chose the size and signed the contract. I actually never discussed sizing with the alterations manager or my consultant (who, by the way, left the company), and I never signed a contract. My mother did. What do I do? Have any of you experienced this before? I’m being told that they ‘might’ be able to let out the dress, but they won’t know for sure until they cut into it. My other option they’ve given me is to buy a new dress or lose weight to fit into the one I have.
This is the last thing I want to be dealing with right now! I only have 12 weeks until my wedding and am freaking out. If any of you have experienced this before, please let me know how your situation was resolved.
So upsetting! 🙁
