Maybe I’m weird, but my wedding dress is pretty low in importance compared to other parts of my wedding for me. As such, I really do not want to spend too much money on one.
On the other hand, before I even became engaged, I’ve always admired the dresses from Saja Wedding. Online I’ve seen in a few places that her dresses were all under $1000, which would have fit nicely into my budget, so I was really looking forward to trying on some and possibly even getting one as my dress!
However, yesterday I called up the only store in Canada that has these dresses. The good news is that they have every single style from the permanent collection and many styles from the 2011 collection. The bad news is they told me these dresses cost $960-$1500, which is slightly over what I wanted to pay for a dress. 🙁
I still really want to go try on these dresses just for fun because I’ve admired them for so long online, but I’m guessing that would be a terrible, terrible idea, lol.
Can anyone suggest to me some dresses that are a similar style to these but are less expensive?

Like you, I started admiring Saja dresses before I was even engaged, even though I have never been a big fan of wedding gowns. My very generous mother, however, treated me to pp6253. Additionally, I live in Northern NJ, so getting so the flagship store was a 30 minute train ride and then a 10 minute subway trip away.
Some of the other dresses that I like, which are also more ‘alternative’ were at the following sites.
Exclusive Wedding Dresses: The Limited
Wedding Dresses – Bridesmaid Dresses, Flower Girl Dresses, Bridal Gowns & Shoes – J.Crew
Wedding Dresses – Bridal Gowns and Dresses | Nordstrom
I was seriously considering trying on off-white bridesmaids dresses made by Wtoo (Watters/)
Wtoo Dresses at Watters.com
I hope this helps

I think my dress is very important but that being said you don’t have to spend a fortune to find something amazing!

Are there any upcoming trunk shows you could attend? Have fun searching for your perfect gown!

I agree with dolphindoll, look for trunk shows or ask bridal salons that carry their gowns if the have sample sales throughout the year.
I would try on the dresses and do some internet searching and calling other stores to compare prices. Like car shopping!
