Ok, so I have a beautiful Priscilla of Boston dress. I’ve taken the train off (just not my style) and I added crinoline (I just love color!).
My question: Do I raise the hemline in the front so that you can see the crinoline or do I just leave the hem the same length and you would only see the crinoline if I I raised the dress myself?
To hem or not to hem? Thanks for your opinions! (Sorry about the photo sizes!)

I personally wouldn’t hem. With dancing and in certain poses you’ll definitely get pictures with your colored crinoline in them!

I wouldn’t hem. I think that would look a little strange.

I wouldn’t hem IMOP. You could get cute pictures by raising your dress to show off the pop of color.

So…I’m having second thoughts about the dress in general. Should I be worried? I don’t know. I think I may just be freaking out.

I would not hem. I think that the crinoline will show anytime you hold up your dress a little to walk, or dance, or what not and it will look great! Don’t second guess the dress…it looks wonderful on you!

The dress looks great on you! But I wouldn’t hem, I think The pop of color will be a nice surprise when you lift it to walk and dance!

Don’t hem. I would just lift it up yourself if you want to show a pop of color. The dress is so beautiful and classic, I wouldn’t permanently shorten the front if it were me.

So I also did a red crinny and red shoes and I don’t think you should hem it! The reason is because the element of surprise adds completely to that look. It turns out better when people are not expecting to see it and then you walk and it pops out…I got some fabulous photos of the coloured crinny but then was also able to get some without…I think its perfect just as it is and it looks gorgeous on you…Rock the red!!!

@Mrs.Lebertintraining: LOVE your photos! Thanks for posting this. I think with the poll and these photos and comments, I’m going to leave the dress and just have an element of surprise to the dress.
Thanks everyone!

@staceynrick:I agree with everyone else, but I was wondering what that cream belt was in the middle of the dress? Is that a sash? Or something just holding the dress together for the fitting?

@kala_way The cream belt is actually a part of the dress. It was there when I bought it and it’s part of the design. You don’t like it? I’ve always wondered if I should replace it/remove it.

@staceynrick: oh really? I could have sworn I’d seen this dress before and it didn’t have it. Maybe it was just a similar dress. I don’t know, it seems to interrupt the beautiful line from the beading on the bodice to the beading where the flare starts. It really is a gorgoues dress and that seems liek a distraction rather than an addition. My opninon of course 🙂

Don’t hem it, just lift it up yourself.
