<div class=”img-frame”>I found this dress at a consignment store. I’d like your opinion. Please be honest and tell me anything you think in addition to my questions. Thanks</div>
<div class=”text-holder”>
1. Does it make me look fat or large in the hips?
2. Is the style out of date?

Well, firstly l think you have a wonderful shape, and could wear many styles. The dress fits well and looks beautifully made and embellished. It most emphatically does not make you look fat or large.
But, yes, that pick up style skirt is a very specific, and now dated look. That said, if you love it, who cares about datedness.

You and your tiny waist look great.
But that dress is very, very, very, very out of date.

elderbee : Thanks for your opinion. It is helpful
jellybellynelly : Thank you. I just don’t know if I should care if it’s out of date because I really like it. Decisions are so hard

If you love it, then who cares if it’s out of date! It flatters you and is beautiful! But definitely out of date.

First off, I think you look beautiful in that dress! And the funny thing is, as many bees on here will tell you, even if you pick a “contemporary” dress style, in a few years that, too, will be considered out of date!
Wear what you love and feel confident in! 🙂

hockeybee0104 : Thanks. I do love it but worry that the out of date will make me look silly. I really want a satin ball gown with beading. I don’t know what to do.

newbeegirl : Thank you. I just don’t want to look silly or for people to think I borrowed my Mom’s old gown. I’d ask my sister but I’m sure she will tell me it looks like a quilt and she will hate it. My Mom thinks I look beautiful and I should have what I want. You know mothers, they would like us in a paper bag. 😊

I think it’s divine! You don’t see skirts that look like that anymore but it’s totally my style. I say keep it if it’s your style too. It looks balanced on you. Gorgeous!

rubyroundhouse : It’s a beautiful dress and it looks beautiful on you! “Dated” does not equate to bad or inadequate. My sister wore a dress from the 80s for her wedding in 2010. She did remove the sleeves which modernized it considerably but she loved her “out of date” gown. Styles are so subjective that I don’t think anything really ever goes out of date for everyone. If you would like to give it a more current refresh, you could always have the neckline altered to be much more sweetheart or even a slight plunge would look great.

rubyroundhouse : If you want a satin ball gown with beading, there are many options available. Pronovias, for example, has lovely gowns within that style:

rubyroundhouse : Idk, I think it’s pretty. The satin is really eccentuated by texture of the skirt.

I think it looks stunning on you and while that style is no longer in vogue, you do wear it well and don’t look silly at all

I do think it looks very dated, but at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter what anyone thinks of you love it. I think there are so many better options out there if you want a satin ball gown.

I think it’s gorgeous and very flattering on you. I would totally wear it, but I’m biased because I wore a similar style for my wedding last year! I personally don’t like the current trends as much so didn’t give a hoot whether it was ‘dated’ or not. I felt fab in it.
