Literally every wedding dress comes much too long and needs hemmed. That’s very standard

I have a Mori Lee dress too and I think mine came in one length only as well. I’m only 5’4” so I’ll need lots of hemming. I expected that. I’m slightly worried about losing some of the details from my dress.

So you’re 5’1”? That’s pretty short. Considering heels and whatnot too, it would be incredibly impractical to build a standard size dress that small. I would have assumed you’d buy petite sizing due to the shorter hip/waist, not just the length.

anyways I’m 5’8” and still had to get my dress hemmed. It’s much easier to hem than magically adding length.

Yeah I had 6 inches gemmed off mine and I’m 5’4” wearing 4 inch heels. 5’1” is pretty short so it makes sense that you would need a lot taken off given that the average US woman is 5’6” and they allow for heel height.

Yeah, sorry bee, but that does sound about right. I’m 5’3″ so a few inches taller than you, and I probably had to have about 6 inches removed from my hem (I wore flats). I wish I had asked to keep the fabric! It didn’t occur to me at the time but my skirt was a beautiful beaded fabric and given how much I had to cut off, I probably could have made a little pillow or something out of it.

I’d think of wedding  dresses as a ‘draft’ product. They are all unfinished and need to be fit to you. So they err  on too much, rather than too little.

I’m 5’0 and my dress will need to be taken up around 12 inches (with small heels).

I found ZERO petite dresses when I looked instore. There was 1 dress that could be ordered in petite sizing (the sample was standard) but I didn’t like it. I specifically looked for dresses that could be altered from the waist as well as the hem.

Better too long than too short!

When I went in for my fitting, the girl doing my alterations told me she’s never taken so much off the bottom of a dress before. I’m very short but there are tons of women my height. She told me my A line had enough fabric left I could create a train if I wanted to. I said no. But my god was a ton of fabric taken off the bottom, lol.
