It’s pretty normal not to. When there is something to preserve at the bottom of the dress, they will frequently take it up from the waist, so you won’t lose the flare.

if the company custom makes each dress then they should have measured your height. but if its a company that just makes a standard size for each gown then they normally dont… unless you are tall and need extra length. i’d phone and check which the maker of your dress is, custom made or bulk? you made need to get the order corrected fast.

When I got my dress, they didn’t measure my height either. I asked about it and got a response similar to what marigold posted above.

They will most likely take it from the seam where the flare begins and go up from there and then shorten the bottom part.

I am a bridal consultant and we don’t normally measure a brides height….unless you can’t hem the dress, then they should have done a hollow to hem measurement.

Also, one thing you might want to ask is for them to order you a petite, a lot of times, it is no extra charge and only means the length is shortened 1-6inches.

If i were you though, talk with the manager to gaurentee you aren’t working with someone new who may not have enough sizing knowledge.

I am petite too and wanted to order my dress using a hallow to hem measure so that they wouldn’t have to alter the lace on my gown. If they didn’t measure for your height, then your gown probably doesn’t come in petite or hallow to hem measurements. They will probably just hem it from the seam where the trumpet begins….no worries!!

If the dress has a definite waistline….a lot of time they will lift the dress up from the waistline.
