Did anyone do wedding dress preservation after their wedding?
My dress is handmade from the 1970s, so no local dry cleaner will touch it. Someone’s spike health tore all through the layers of the my dress, including lace, so that will need to be repaired. Would a preserving company do that?
Anyone help would be appreciated!

i’m pretty sure that no preservation company will repair a dress, you have to have a seamstress do that.
my mom had her dress preserved in the 80’s, and my aunt had hers done in the early 90’s. but i don’t know of anyone who’s done it recently. i think david’s bridal sells preservation kits, though. maybe you could call and ask? there’s also this site: http://www.gownpreservation.com/

I will be donating mine for some other bride to enjoy. I have an almost 22 year old son, and he said that my dress wasn’t his style. LOL

I will be getting my dress preserved, I know that is not much help. The store I purchased my dress offered it, but they go through a company. Mine includes putting the dress back into its original form as close as they can (cleaning it and repair of any kind) and storing it in protected box that showcases the dress. I would call bridal shops and see what the reccommned doing for preservation or if they can refer you to a company, as for the rip in the dress I would have a seamstress or alterations person take care of it. Good luck!
