So I bought my wedding dress last month at bhldn and it came in recently. I ordered the 4 which is what I was advised to do and was the same size I tried on.
The dress is pretty form fitting…its a trumpet (called the Dakota by Nicole miller). So I tried it on today and it’s really tight. It’s definitely supposed to be tight and does not look too small on but I’m so afraid that if I put any weight on its going to be too small. Now, I’ve been the same weight for a while so i don’t think Ill gain anything . I guess I’m just looking for some reassurance. If, for some reason I did gain weight, can a dress be taken out? it would only be in one spot… The very top .. Like the last inch that it zips. It’s fine everywhere else… it’s loose enough that I could gain weight in other places. It’s really just the top.
My wedding is in July so I’ve got some time and I’m definitely going to continue working out… Just looking for some advice.

I work at a sample sewing room and my boss/owner has made a lot of wedding dresses and assures me every bride loses right before the wedding. If its that tight now, it’ll probably be perfect then.
Yes, most dresses can be let out, at least a little bit if needed. It just depends on how it was stitched as to how much there is to let out.
I would also suggest looking into different shapewear under it. Maybe a different style, or fabric of bra will help the zipper glide up.
Are you getting any adjustments made? Hem? I would talk to the person doing that to get your options. They will be able to look at how its made to let it out and I would ask them how much time they would need to do that. Wait until then to decide, between working out and stress of planning the wedding, you may not need it let out. They may also have suggestions on shapewear for you.
Good luck! Don’t stress too much! It’ll be ok!

frywedding2015: I’m not planning on wearing anything under it other than underwear. It has a bra built into it and I’m not wearing shapewear because I honestly just don’t need it. Im not saying I have the most pefect body but there’s enough boning and it’s tight enough that there’s no reason for shapewear.
I do think I’ll have to have it shortened a bit but that’s the only adjustment I need. Thats sort of why I was happy with the size.. It just fits like a glove so it’s nice that I (hopefully) won’t have to spend a ton of money having it altered. I just got really nervous today that I won’t be able to zip it on the day. Your response makes me feel better though. Once I figure out where Im having it altered I’ll see how long she would need to take it out if need be.
