So I bought my wedding dress a month ago! A little background to our wedding, it is going to take place in a Catholic church so I was hoping to go with a more traditional, simple and appropriate dress. I went with my Mum and my Maid/Matron of Honor shopping and found the dress that I had been looking at online for sometime. I ended up trying it on and getting this awesome feeling where I felt beautiful and just had to have it, and let me be very clear, I NEVER just try something on and buy it, I ALWAYS calculate all my purchases. We ended up buying it, the consultant told me to get it in ivory because the white would wash out my very pale skin, so I did.
Anyways, today I took my Mother-In-Law and the rest of my family back to the store to try it on and I did NOT have the same feeling as I did the first time. Sure I still felt fine in it, but I felt like I was being more critical of it, like the ivory color, and that maybe it was too over the top or too old looking?

I don’t know if trying it on again was such a good idea. Is it common for brides to second guess or not feel the same excitement as the first time? I look back at the pictures of the first time I tried the dress on and I feel the same happy feeling but trying it on today I felt a bit deflated, I thought I would feel more!

Please help! I can’t afford to get another one and I want to love the one I have!!

That dress looks stunning on you, and its not too old looking by any means. My dress is actually pretty similar, especially the back.

You look so beautiful! Your dress is stunning and perfect for a Catholic ceremony. Many brides, esp on this site, have been in your situation. Maybe you were just thrown off with the color? I do agree with the consultant because ivory is usually the top pick for your skin color. Most brides I know ordered their dresses in ivory. I hope your dress regret goes away because you really do look stunning. 🙂

I agree! You look great! I bought my dress about a week ago and it’s similar style. I hope I don’t have dress regret, cos my wedding is not until next year!

I think you look amazing in that dress!
I’m only in the beginning stages of dress buying and I have yet to feel the “wow”, I felt comfortale and pretty, but not overwhelmed.
Anyhow, I think it’s very common for us as women to fantasise or overthing things which then builds them up more than they really are. What I’m trying to say is that you may have put really high expectations on wanting the ‘princess feeling’ when your dress arrived. I fear I’m going to have this problem – but we have to trust our insticts.
Just look at that picture, you look amazing and I’m sure on your wedding day that you will feel gorgeous.

Love it! The back is especially beautiful 🙂 I also think ivory was the right color choice for you. Pure white can often photograph a bit blue.

Thank you so much! I think it probably was the color, I’ve always thought I would go white! Thank you for that I am so hoping it will go away with all these kind words 🙂

Wilson2Bee: Please please please don’t have any regrets, this dress looks amazing on you. I think some of us can be deflated as we’ve built up our wedding experiences in our heads since being a young girl.

Wow! Look at the back of that dress. So pretty. I think you look classic and elegant, and ivory was a great choice. I totally understand second guessing the dress- I am doing it too with mine- but you really look awesome in it!

CatyLady: MissLibra: lovelee1: kristiherrerap: thank you ladies! Maybe it’s the feeling of my decision being so definite and putting a deposit on it that has me so stressed! I think the finality of it has really made me question my own decision! Thank you for picking me up though! Your kind words will help me through! 🙂

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Sooo pretty! You look great! I do understand your feeling. I am an undecided shopper and notorious for taking an enormous amount of time to make a decision. However, like you, I went shopping w/mom and a bridesmaid and bought the 4th dress I tried on. Very unlike me, but I just loved it. As the wedding day closes in, I keep wondering if I made the right decision. In any case, I think your dress decision is a good one!
